I think we still have something like 16 months left to use it so Im not going to panic (yet).

Used it for my homepage since it became available. Great when you travel too, available on any computer you use.

This happens a lot to everything I find and like from food to clothes. Find it, use it, like, it and it gets cancelled or discontinued.

I noticed there's basically no way to use gtalk or ghat or wahteverthefuck they call it now on the iPhone now that Meebo is being shut down in a few days. WTF? Can't IM on the iphone without buying some crap app? I don't get it. I'm ready to ditch this iPhone and switch to Android during my company's next hardware refresh for field employees.

If the functionality of if were integrated into google+ then we'd have something.

That was my expectation. They're trying to push people to + or maybe Chrome (which could probably provide a lot of this same stuff but you'd have to install apps for your home page on it). I would've thought Wave too, but they killed it off already.

I guess I don't exactly know what iGoogle is.

Didn't they revamp Chrome on iPhone recently? Also its the default web browser on Android now, right?

Google loves doing this kind of shit. I'm just surprised they weren't trying to herd everyone over to Google+.

Sucks. I use it every day at work. Always have.
Oh well at least I have almost 16 months to say my goodbyes.

God dammit... I have my parents' home pages set up to their igoogle page. What should be a simple transition for most people will be fraught with turmoil and anger as my parents demand to know why their computer broke.

It didn't break mom, you just have a different homepage.

"But my fish are gone"

I know, but google shut down the homepage you used to use that had the fishes.

"No, google still works I just checked"

*ugh* No, that's not what I... look, this is just how it has to be now. I'm sorry.

"Whatever. Where's my weather?"

etc, etc...

Guess I could always revive my old My Yahoo page, which was basically the same thing.

Same here. I switched to iGoogle from My Yahoo in the past year. Back to Yahoo it is.

iGoogle's been glitchy as hell lately for me, not loading a good chunk of the time when I open by browser. Guess they've already stopped updates or maintaining the servers it runs on.

I am disappointed in Googles' decision to drop iGoogle. I travel the world for business and it seems to be the only way to keep Google from redirecting me to local country Google sites normally in local languages. This site is the best way I know to keep my home page anchored. I guess I could switch to Yahoo as a home page, if that is the idea, it seems like an odd business strategy.....

Yep, i'm dumfounded. Seems like theyre doing it to try to force us to use other products that they may think will increase growth more/faster or make more money or something. None of the "alternatives" they offered come close to the real thing. Just seems so dumb. :( Welcome to AnandTech, btw! :)

it's a puzzling move... I can't imagine it takes a significant amount of resources to keep it going and they don't seem to be replacing it with anything.

I like my homepage :( it was nice to be able to check email, weather, news, and rss feeds all at once.

To be honest, iGoogle kinda sucked. Most of the news sources that they aggregated from came from sites like the Wall Street Journal that were behind a paywall. So, you could only read the headline and that's about it.

So instead of being able to easily view a ton of custom feeds at once in my browser on any computer, I'm supposed to install a ton of apps and clunkily navigate through them one at a time? WTF? What modern browser apps are they talking about that will replace iGoogle?

Sounds like a business opportunity to me. Want iGoogle? Make it. Set up a website that allows people to create a custom home page, and isn't tied to proprietary services or software.
