That sucks, I was planning to get a PS2 just to play all of the FF games on it. I used to have a SNES and the FF series was my favorite.

I was thinking about just waiting until the PS3 is released though. Then I could pickup a PS2 for cheap and have access to a lot more games.
Emulators are good enough to play any FF before X.

Oh, and VII and VIII have PC versions. But those are even more expensive then the PS1 copies...

ePSXe ftw.

really? that doesn't work well

What are you talking about? I've played VII and VIII on the PC with ePSXe and it was every bit as good as on a real PS1

HUh... I paid 8$ for the PC version from BJ's and 18$ for the GH version 5 years ago.

Sometimes prices stay high because the game is "still in demand". I had to pay $60 for FF6 FIVE YEARS after it was put out. I never got around to buying Super-Metroid, but a place around here charges $30 for a copy without even a plastic protector (i.e bare cartridge).

I run most games pretty damn well on my ancient Athlon 900, 256mb of RAM and GF4. Most games look better than playing on the actual PSone (1024x768, high-ish settings). Only thing that bogs it down is full screen effects (like heat blur and stuff). Plus I've got an Xbox controller with a modded extension to play with. There may be issues with certain games (always is with emus), but I haven't run into them, at least not in my extensive library.

It's expensive because it's the best game ever.

The PC version is hugely buggy, will not run on any ATI video card and not all Nvidias either, and looks like crap.

ePSXe works fine.
