I don't even know who is in Gitmo. I don't care. People who watch cable news 24/7 to find out what's going on in the Middle East like it actually affects their daily lives disgust me. Unless you have friends or family over there, who fucking cares? If Israel glassed the entire Arab world or the Arabs glassed Israel, how would your life change? Mine wouldn't change in the slightest.

You know what? Republicans as well as Democrats have been in charge of kill lists for generations. Yemen was in the midst of a civil war, with Awlaki actively being a part of the faction the US opposed. When you engage in an active war against the US or US ally, normal rules of jurisprudence don't apply. US citizens who fought for the Nazis in WW2 were treated the same as any other Nazi soldier. Any American who fought against the Union in the Civil War was treated likewise.

Evil is a harsh word to use. Someone who is evil knows what they're doing is wrong and is ok with it. That doesn't mean evil doesn't exist in the Republican party, I'm sure it does and I'm sure there's some in the Democratic party. I think the voice of evil is a bit louder in the Republican party though. But evil is not what has taken over the GOP, self interest is what has taken it over. The Randian "rich are our new lord Jesus" mentality has taken hold and is at the center of the worst of their policy.

That's how the GOP operates. It only exists today due to identity politics. Look at who voted for Romney. It was almost all one ethnic group. How is that possible? Identity politics. The GOP has worked tirelessly to de-integrate millions of people in the US from American culture and society. That's really the only explanation as to why they are basically a monolithic party in terms of demographics.

Yeah except that isnt how it works. And there is plenty of history to show when citizens did leave our country to join the enemy if they werent killed on the battlefield. Honestly, I get the feeling that the Republicans understand that their key talking point, the economy, is unraveling more and more as time goes on because the system we use is unsustainable. Thus, it is causing them to flail ever so much harder to gain traction with the people who normally vote for them, like me, because they cannot seem to get the economy or the value of the dollar back under control.

I don't think they are necessarily evil, I just think they never realized that this economic system could collapse and be bad for us all. It is already bad for us all, and it is bordering on the edge of a catastrophic collapse. The sad thing is I really like capitalism but the problem is that it is completely flawed in that it rewards many wrong behaviors.
