Why is Dell so ambiguous about shipping/tracking numbers and the like?

so i place an order on the 16th.
delivery date is 21st-25th
no tracking number
no info on which courier
just some lame 4 day window in which i have to guess my order will arrive.

i HAVE to sign for it too.

Don't worry, they always say you have to sign for it, but rarely do the couriers give a sh!t. They just leave them, anyway.
