These forums are supposed to be as close to family friendly as possible... that is why the Mods frown upon cursing.

As my own personal pet peeve, i think it says a lot about a poster's character when they post potty mouth. Kinda like negative attention seeking.

 @ 'potty mouth'

We have plenty of polite adult ways of mentioning such words:

"expletive"
"curse"
"foul language"
even
"dirty language" / "dirty words"

Just being a little bit of a linguistic nazi, but that word choice struck me. 😛

Bro, you passed on using 'cunning linguist' instead?

I don't think having a vocabulary larger than that of the average middle school student really qualifies me as a cunning linguist 😱

I tend to swear a LOT in my line of work. So its a tough habbit to break.

Edit - There is a difference in someone thinking that certain words dont sound professional, but people that dont like certain words have mental issues. A word only has the meaning that we give it.

You're a much better 'master debater' anyway.

I really have to stop watching Austin Powers.

But it's ok if you start a thread on OT telling people how much you hate black people and throw a KKK party in the progress. In other words, cursing is a big no no, but hate speech is all good.

What in the world are you talking about?

I was going to ask the same thing.

Swearing can indeed add weight to a statement if used in moderation, but most people go way overboard.

It is interesting that the censor is bypassed so easily, however. Maybe they just use the minimum necessary rules to get FCC funding?🙂
