I thought it was a widely known fact that coffee contains virtually no nutrients, calories, or anything. Proof: http://www.cnn.com/FOOD/resources/food.for.thought/beverages/coffee/compare.coffee.html The 4.5 calories it has are really negligable. I drink my coffee straight black.

Yes, caffeine from sodas are bad because sodas are loaded with carbs. Smoking is bad because smoking GIVES YOU CANCER! And costs on the order of several $ a day. I can buy my own coffee and a pound will last me weeks.

Why do people consider coffee bad? Because it contains caffeine? Is that really the extent of it? I mean, yea, caffeine is a diruetic. So, drink more water. Coffee is 95% water anyways. Drink some additional water.

Why do people seem so focused on 'kicking the coffee habit?" Is it just because they feel that it is 'not natural' to rely on a stimulant to be productive?

Excessive caffeine consumption can lead to hypertension and heart disease. It can cause other problems too, like difficulty sleeping, irritability, and lower stress threshold.

It's not "bad" just like beer and wine aren't "bad". They're actually all someone beneficial in small doses. It's when someone's knocking back 8 cups of coffee per day or a case of beer that things get "bad".

Everything in moderation.

Coffee would be a much more suitable choice to get caffiene than a soft drink. Much lower in calories (except for diet sodas) and isn't loaded with sweeteners and syrup and crap.

Coffee itself, the only "bad" thing about it is the caffeine.
It gets bad when you start adding sugar, cream, etc to it. Have you seen the nutrition info for a Starbucks Frappuchino? You could have a Big Mac for the amount of calories in fat in those suckers!

Not to mention to sociological impact when people see a man carrying one of those and go "Hmm.....I was kinda wondering about him, but that Frappuchino-Mocha-Smoothie with sprinkles is a dead giveaway."

everything is considered unhealthy at some point.

I don't worry about it. I drink my cup of coffee a day and that's fine with me. If it shows that one cup a day will shorten my life by 13.3233425 years, then so be it.

Why is adderall considered unhealthy?

It's physically addictive and strains your circulatory system excessively, same as caffeine. Withdrawal isn't fun for either, believe me.
