Why is choosing a cell phone provider harder than choosing a college?

I'm completely serious. I am going to be getting a cell phone for college this year, and finding the best service is impossible. Websites that actually compare services in areas simply don't exist, or are at least unknown to Google. Could anyone here help me out? I'm going to be in Philadelphia, so good coverage there is a must, and further I don't want to spend more than $30 a month, though that could be raised to maybe $40 if it would be worth it (I'm not a heavy talker (in fact I don't even really want a cell phone, but a land line would be the same price)). All I really care for is a decent amount of anytime minutes and unlimited nights/weekends.

Any websites would be a great help. I?ve checked out howardforums.com, but the problem is it?s just a bunch of forums, and I can?t gather a clear consensus from browsing through them.

Um, why don't you just ask your family and friends how their cell phone service coverage is? Most times than not the service is relatively the same within all areas of the state. I don't know how far away Dallas (Penn) is away from Philadelphia but coverage should be relatively the same.
