yes way over priced for wings. so i make my own (baked, used to fry but its so messy and takes forever then dealing with the used oil) and use their sauces. the blazing is quite hot and is my go to when i want an endorphin rush.

I've never set foot in one...to me, the wing of a chicken is like the back...something to throw in the garbage when you cut a chicken up...the drummies are OK, but it takes way too many of them to get any real meat...so -------->garbage can.

My wife on the other hand thinks the wings are one of the best parts of a chicken...so while I'd prefer to chuck them out...I don't.

Don't bake. Grill the wings hot indirect. Basically do Vortex wings on the grill but you don't even need Vortex. Use Weber charcoal baskets in the middle of the grill and spread the wings away from the middle around the grill. Rub the wings with some Old Bay Seasoning before you grill and use some apple or cherry wood for smoke and you'll end up with crispy wings better than fried. Seriously, it's so good it will change how you cook and eat wings for life.

I went their once with my girlfriend. It was the only restaurant close to us and it was getting late. The food tasted like something they grabbed out of the freezer section at a grocery store and the beer selection was meh (especially for Portland).

I can say the same about all the other similar places: Hooters, DnB, Yardhouse...etc. Average food, service that's a hit or miss, and average to good beer selection. All of this I can do better at home but that's pretty boring.

I have only gone there when it's 50% off and I think it's still really overpriced. Yet I see people waiting out the door for them at full price. What's the attraction to that place?

I've been to several and I have never seen a line out the door at their restaurants lol.

you're supposed to collect all your chicken parts, roast them a bit, and make stock.

Yup, there's one by my work in a crowded/populated area, and the times I've gone, there has never been a line, the tables were empty save for a few. The service however, can still be slow even when they aren't crowded.

But I know just b/c mine isn't crowded, doesn't mean others aren't. That's just my experience though.

I only go there because they show the major UFC events. And only then because its the only bar in town showing the fight.

I have no idea why anybody likes this place. I have been twice and wont go back. I was hoping the first experience was a fluke in that the wings were dry and didnt have much taste but thats exactly how the second time was.

I once went to the one near my house and was told it was a 1-1.5 hour wait! The waiting room was standing room only and there was a crowd waiting outside. I could not believe there was that long a wait for nearly $1.50 per wing.

Why is hard to figure out the attraction? People speak with their wallets and won't be waiting in line if they didn't like it...seems pretty simple to me...

Not really sure what type of answer the OP is looking for, maybe good food and atmosphere??
OP is a cool dude because he is ragging on a chain restaurant.

This. I keep all my chicken backs, innards, discarded bones and various bits and freeze them down to be used for the next stock.

It's super easy if you know how to use charcoal chimney. The oven is easier but so is using the oven for BBQ. And you don't see people doing that. Flavor isn't remotely comparable. Smoked wings can be better than fried wings. But baked wings can never be better. I've done baked wings and while it's edible, it's not addicting. Fried and smoked wings are both addictive.

They are missing profits for several years now. I think their schtick is up. We were in one last Saturday, all day basically watching college football. At most the place was 1/3rd full. I think the biggest complain is their boneless wings are frozen. They used to be fresh and hand dipped.

it's meh. wings are small, the boneless "wings" are pre-breaded and frozen, the fries suck (wedges are good), and i'm pretty sure the dressings are bottled. it's like a bad chili's with big TVs.

wing stop has way better wings but isn't a sports bar, and I've got plucker's around the corner which is also better wings and sports bar. I've barely been back to bw3 since that opened.

Last time I was there I bought a bottle of their hottest sauce and combine it with others. Makes a pretty good product. Place is really expensive though.

You guys nerd to know how to order wings properly. You need to order wings, no matter where you go, extra crispy so they cook longer. That'll make any wing a million times better.

I agree it's overpriced. The food is subpar... but I mean... wings are wings to a certain extent. They have a DECENT selection of beers (unlike most chain places).

But yeah, the sports atmosphere I'm sure helps. God knows sports douchebags have to have 10 quadrillion TVs surrounding them at all times. God forbid you converse with other humans on topics unrelated to sports for 5 seconds.
