Just seems weird. I don't really eat fresh water fish.

No rainbow trout? Shame! :p

No such thing as freshwater if a fish is swimming in it. :p

There is the ocean which is approx 1.0265g/ml sg and of course "freshwater" ponds will measure quite close to 1.00 on the hydrometer. I know what you mean.

Take a cruise on Lake Superior around the American Turkey Day and you will experience the "high seas". Or just fire up Gordon Lightfoot and listen to "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald". (much safer) ;)

As far as acoustic bass, low frequencies, LFE etc. The BEST experience is actually HEARING sub 20Hz material. In a car or near a bass bin you FEEL the shaking of what you're sitting or standing on. This is why I don't like ass shakers. They may be alright for apartment dwellers but things putting out low frequency energy don't shake your ass only!

It's definitely possible to HEAR the lowest registers of some of the bigger pipe organs. 16Hz is no sweat on a 32' foot register. 64' (8Hz) and 128' (4Hz) are amazing too. The problem with these low frequencies is your ears aren't very sensitive to them and the levels have to be so loud for you to start hearing them causes things around you to move - sometimes quite violently. (earthquake!)

They say there is no such thing as a brown note. I guess that depends on how you define that. I don't believe a sound exists that makes a person lose control of their bowels and defecate explosively. (good thing!) However exposure to certain LOUD things at lower registers can induce nausea, difficulty in breathing and sexual arousement!

My take on it: It's an evolutionary thing. Our primate relatives enjoy making loud noises, via chest-beating or ruslting of underbrush. Give a chimp or a silverback a loud set of drums, and he'd be the biggest badass in the region.

Likewise, we have technology to make loud noises easily, which tingles that ancient sense of "Loud = powerful = good."

I just upgraded my car audio with some Pioneer speakers (thanks to Normalicy here) and I didn't replace the amp or put a sub in. I do like some bass when it's crisp and "tight", not when it's a muddled mess which most of the people who have installed a sub have. I didn't have the money to buy a nice sub right now, so I'm fine doing without until I can really afford, and have the time to look for, an actually quality sub.

Bass is really used as a cheap way of making up for subpar sound. Bass is not very directional so it's cool how it feels like the sub is all around you. It can easily cover up the rest of the sound so instead of research being spent making a better speaker, they crank up the bass and call it a day.

Big subwoofer hides the shittiness of the rest of the system.

One thing I've noticed when renting cars - if the radio is tuned to a hip hop station, the bass will be cranked to max, never fails.

Rock, Jazz, Funk and RnB have to have bass like a car needs an exhaust system. Now the people who have stacks or glasspacks, that's the same BS these noise makers do with their bass. Take it to an unnecessary level just to attract attention. Don't hate on bass because of the FEW fools.

As someone who enjoys a spectrum of musical genres, I covet the mid range foremost, then bass, then treble.

Mid-range doesn't get much publicity because it doesn't factor heavily into club beats :p
No one extols about feeling treble or mids.

I prefer bass (and midbass to an extent) over treble because high-pitched sounds hurt my ears. Nothing's worse for my ears than a speaker system that accentuates the ultra-high-pitched frequencies that symbols and some drums live at. Bass is just much easier on my ears, plus I love the way it feels when it hits you right in the chest.

I don't think I've ever experienced true sub-bass infrasonics, but a friend of mine had a pair of 12" subwoofers driven by 1200w each in his car - supposedly tuned to 15hz. The only time those things ever reached anything close to that was when I hooked my laptop up to his stereo and we watched War of the Worlds. It started shaking his car and actually felt like the tripod was coming out of the parking lot, not the on-screen street!

yup perch and walleye are the best fish there is, especially when fresh.

Heinz tarter sauce is pretty good, give it a try.
