BR fit is kinda big for Asians. I'm Asian myself. 32x32, size M for most things. I could pull a small shirt off for a lot of things. Isuppose their new slim fit is a bit better, but overall their fit is larger. Goes with Gap too. However, the conservative professional nature is a reason for shopping there, but if you wanted trendier stuff that fits an Asian build better, Express and AX are better choices. H&M also.

I grew up with some Asian friends who are all bigger than me.

And I'm 5'11 and 190lbs, so it perplexes me about other Asians. I thought growing up in the US would make up for the lack of nutrition of the parents?

I think Banana Republic is aimed at suburbanites who own a cottage, a boat and an Audi. (People with less money shop at the GAP and pretend that the quality and clothing is similar when it's anything but.)

BR has some decent sales every few months, which is great for picking up office-appropriate clothing like this.

Dude, Gap and BR makes all of its stuff in South America or something anyway.

Sweat shop is sweat shop.

It's like A&F for adults.

That being said, their clothes actually look good for the price.(unlike A&F)

Not many brands out there who make clothes that fit like Hollister/A&F. Express for Men and 'Guess' are good too but not consistent in fit.

Everyone makes their stuff in South America or India/Indonesia/etc. That hardly means they all make the same quality clothing.

Depends, some of my asian friends grew up in traditional households eating rice and asian cuisine everyday... I would say average 5'9 and around 150lbs. Then I have the other asian friends who are more Americanized eating burgers, steaks, junk food everyday and they're more like 6'0 and around 200lbs.

I ate whatever as a kid, and my parents are like 5'2 and 5'0. They cooked Asian cuisine (or what they claim to be "cuisine") so I doubt it's that.

I blew $250 (15% off) on a short-trench coat at BR last month. I bought a near exact copy of the coat from H&M for $150 (full price), size is virtually identical too, and I still don't feel bad about buying the BR one. It's higher quality, nicer material and when you knew your coat is that expensive, you feel good.

That's about it though. I peruse the BR regular apparel and don't really click with it. I'm only 23, so Gap still works for me, and Gap actually carries XS. BR only carries S in Canada, and they stash their Smalls away in the back; I know the BR website in the US carries XS, but it's quite selective depending on the item.

And someone else said it, Asians dress trendier. Even if they try to dress gangsta, that is a trend. I don't see many Asians wearing wife-beaters and broken jeans that often. Lot of Hong Kong people in my city too, and they are fashion nazis.

North Korea average male height: 5'2"
South Korea average male height: 5'9"
Difference = nutrition, South Koreans have a lot more balanced diet now and eat a lot of American / European foods as well.

Or perhaps the "bigger" kids preferred the food with more caloric value due to having a larger body. Unless your small Asian buddy was malnourished as a child, the fact that he eats healthy will not make him shorter.

Why's it gotta be an Asian build huh?
I'm 100% not Asian and that's my build.

do you mean clothes with 12" sleeves that make anyone look big

I am not even remotely big and can't fit in alot of A&F clothes because of this.

I normally wear a medium to small because I'm short so maybe that could be it. I could wear there larges but they are too long so it looks ridiculous.

It's not just one buddy, it's many buddies (just a general rule of thumb). I didn't know all of them during adolescence but the ones I did know were pretty similar in size and eventually grew differently. Parents were different sizes so that factors in but in some cases the bigger parents had smaller children.

Well part of it is nutrition. But it's not like our parents are that lack of nutrition either? My dad is taller than I am actually. I think in general the ABCs in the US are taller than their native Asian counterparts, but I think it's all catching up. And with world poverty less of a problem, it's not like the young people are short as hell in China or Taiwan or Hong Kong anymore.... But the overall Asian population is still some 2" shorter than standard white pop.

Old navy only goes up to 2XL ... so fat people pretty much can't shop there....

2XL clothes are pretty big

I am 5'6 ~170 and still wear small to medium clothing

Jay Cutler has a 3XL chest (58") for comparison

and if anyone has man titties that are anywhere close to the size of jay cutler's chest than you are pretty fat

Damn. Shouldn't have starved myself during junior high and highschool to end up at 5'4". Oh, and the lack of exercise...

Ummm.. the BR where I live isn't shopped by Asians at all. Mostly gays, and rich hispanic/whitie "douchie" bag frat boys with propped collar pink shirts who alternative between prep clothing bought from places like BR and Gap to Affliction shirts.

Not that I haven't purchased a few items from time to time when I get dragged out to a Mall and am forced to wander around aimlessly for hours in search of useless garbage to spend money on. If I'm out there in the first place, might as well buy something if it suits my tastes, fits, and is on the clearance rack at a price that isn't stupid. $20 for jeans from BR is still cheap enough to buy

Okay, I'll bite.

What exactly is an "asian build"?

skinny, no muscle definition, and specifically for the females - an absolute lack of what might be called an ass
:p

except for the ones that aren't like that. Some can be hot, if they have an ass and chest and, well, more white face apparently?
I'm just more attracted to white people with the right shapes, yet... I've dated someone of just about every mix. Save for Asian, and that was just because the almost one was too much of a bitchy freshman. ugh

gasp... I actually haven't dated proper an entirely white girl for awhile, then again, haven't dated for awhile. dammit I just reminded myself how depressing this void is. :D

I don't know about that. The clothing over there works pretty well for me.
