I haven't seen anything that would warrant any blame toward those mergers, would you?
I don't see anyone complaining about them as opposed to MANY people compaining about installing .NET. I see a difference even if you do not.

My guess is that .NET is nothing more than MS's first step towards evolving their OS software to a subscription based model. You pay a yearly fee for the use of their product and they provide updates during that time. It is quite a bit like the napster model. Don't get me wrong - I think that is TOTAL BS, but they will do what they will do.

If this does eventually happen though, I'll probably go linux. The only software that it makes sense to me to rent is Anti-virus and spyware protection.

it's not hatred, it jealousy . . . and you haven't been here long . . . it was MUCH [much] worse for ATi supporters here in Video a couple of years ago . . . the balance has shifted with far more vocal ATI supporters - now.

ATI's drivers are even worse on Linux.

Thank you for taking another opportunity to crap on ATI by taking someone's post out of context. Good job!

Not that the information was false, ATI's drivers do indeed suck on Linux. I just don't feel that they suck as badly as the fanboys make it out to be on Windows. From what ATI haters say, I shouldn't even be able to load up Windows with ATI's drivers much less play games.

Heh...actually none relating to the video card drivers. Granted I've mostly been watching videos lately due to being extremely time limited. I'm still trying to finish AOE3 and CoD2. GF + Work = no time. Ok...I browse the web half the time I'm at work. Just can't play games. Most of my issues are related to the GF. :)

Jealous of what.?How poorly they have been run the last 16 months or so.That they actually might be getting it together this year even though dirty Dave Orton is still at the wheel? What is there to be jealous of?Care to elaborate?

That's the best answer you can come up with?

Well lets start here.

Orton announces spectacular things coming.Stocks rise(artificially)
Orton sells a shitload of stock.
Orton announces bad times ahead.Stocks start to plummet.
(lawsuits ensue,etc)

ATI releases x800's,not good enough,releases x850's.

ATI releases "the fastest video card on the planet."
ATI steals market share from Nvidia.
ATI ends up with $400 million in stock sitting on shelves nobody wants.
ATI writes it down $70 million.
After putting out"fastest card on the planet" and stealing market share,

ATI LOSES MONEY!
Then there is 3 launches of x-fire etc,the list goes on

Where is the good management there?

Granted the R520 was bad luck not management,I can't hold that against them.
They are wiping that under the carpet and are moving on quite well I might add with this new launch. And I honestly hope it does continue.

But up until now the management side has been a joke, again I ask you, what is there to be jealous of?

My post was both accurate and related to the topic regarding drivers.

Your response was whine and cheese.

Nvidia doesn't require .net so I dont see why ATI should.

I do however agree that .net is going to become a fact of life even for Nvidia users, but MS should at least iron out the bugs before companies like ATI require its use.

My $0.02

.Net 2.0 is far from problematic. In fact most people have problems because of their IE/pr0n habits. 5 Different Desktops, 2 Servers, 2 Laptops which all have vast difference in hardware brands all running .Net in some version or another with no problem.

.Net is here to stay, like it or not, and Vista will lock a lot of people into it so look for Nvidia to be using it at some point.

Typical response from someone of your stature. If you backed yourself into a corner and you know it, insult the other party instead of addressing their points. Not the first time you've done it so why should I be surprised.

I've been old enough to drink for the last 8 years. I graduated from high school as a member of the National Honor Society. I speak fluently in 3 languages.

Your response was indeed accurate. I even said so. The problem is that as I stated, you completely took Tourguide's post out of context so you could flame ATI.

Tourguide's comment wasn't even geared towards ATI or nVidia and was completely neutral in terms of favoritism. It was just a general comment on how MS wants to move to a subscription type of service where everyone "rents" software much like how people "rent" music from Napster.

The topic at hand was about why .net was required for ATI's CCC. This didn't even have a thing to do with Linux. You turned it into an opportunity to flame ATI using an out of context quote to do so.

If you hate ATI so much, why are you trolling in a subject thread that you know (unless your reading comprehension is worse than I think it is) is specifically related to ATI? Only thing I can think of is an opportunity to crap on ATI in yet another thread. Real mature, and again, good job. You've accomplished your mission.

Typical fanboy/troll behavior.

I doubt the .NET framework causes people that many problems. It is however bloated (more so than other runtimes).

Ah the old pot calling the kettle black routine.

I freely admit to being a fan of NVIDIA. One only has to look at either of your posts to see that you are ATI fan boys. But to pretend to be on some neutral high hill while you both cast insults at me.... That not only makes you hypocrites, but very sad hypocrites who need to move beyond your mother?s basement.

Time for you two to come out of the closet.

Yearrrr... well, after watching my friends "beta test" Nv products for me, there's a reason why I'm not using a Nv card right now.

umm.. its only CCC that is bad.. ATI drivers are okay on Windows IMHO..
I don't see how you make his comment as crapping on ATI...no need to start a flame over nothing..

Agreed. MSIL puts too much on compatiblility rather than effeciency..
