It's confusing.

PIC 22 caliber to 9mm to 50 caliber (Desert Eagle?)

Can someone simply all the types of ammo?

cause most of earth uses metric, and the caliber rounds are either american, or legacy names from countries that have switched over to metric.

Caliber == older standard, define before the adoption of metric
mm == newer standard, post metric, esp. from europe.
Nonstandard mm (7.62) == corresponds to an older caliber definition.

I've only fired guns like twice and I know this.

Come ON, use some critical thinking before posting, people.

Why is distance measured in both feet and meters, miles and kilometers?

Convenience?

Why is the distance from the earth to the sun defined as 1AU instead of in km? We have the conversion factor, but it's way easier to say 1AU than 150000000 km.

What is a caliber? Text

Caliber are in inches like .38 caliber which is 0.38 inch diameter bore.

5.56mm is equal to .223 cal or 0.233 inch diameter bore. :)

Here's something else to mess with your head. A .38 and a 9mm have the same size bullet.

Simple, all the good rounds are measured in inches and all the crappy euro and commie rounds are measured in millimeter.
