It has something to do with the number 5....like how F5 refreshes your screen.

It's sort of like a quick charge on a cell phone...you work great for a little bit after the recharge, but after a little bit of use you just fall flat on your face again.

5 minutes makes you feel refreshed? if someone wakes me up 5 minutes after i fall asleep they had better run, or have a damn good reason :p i'm always more tired after naps

These so called "power naps" have never done anything for me because I never fall asleep. The whole time I'm lying down, I'm thinking "ok I'm gonna sleep for 5-30 minutes, wake up then feel fully recharged", then nothing happens. Even if I do fall asleep I wake up groggy.

Give me a "real 2 hour nap" and I wake up fully refreshed, of course it's harder to sleep at night time though since I had that previous nap.

And I agree with the original statement, power naps are indeed very nifty. I usually need a little more than 5 minutes, though. More like 15.

I dunno about the 5 minute thing, but sleeping for more than 12 hours makes me sleepy. I love college. :D

those 5 minute naps work perfectly when you have been driving like 8 hours straight. catching a 5 minute nap while you're driving is very, very refreshing!:D

I tried the 5 minute power-nap and failed.
Woke up 4 in the morning after sleeping 12 hours!
That sounds like what happens to me. I can NOT sleep for only a few minutes. If I go to sleep I will sleep for 2 hours min.

Power naps kick @ss. I even know someone who's hardcore, she naps for 15 min, does 30 min of work, naps for 30 min, does 45 min of work, naps for an hour, does 1 hour 15 min of work... etc.

And it seems to work for her, she's never tired and she's hella buzy too.

It's worked for me, on occasion. I've been dead tired at work (working nights), and fallen asleep for 5 min, after which I'm able to keep working at full alertness. I don't know why it works, though.
