theres salt in gatorade too. electolytes. mmm... thats why they flavored it to cover up the salt. now they have salts that don't taste like anything, which is why gatorade has excercise water now. i'm partial to the alpine snow myself as well. and powerade does suck.
hardware - you might want to check your history. 3dfx was making profits after releasing the voodoo3. where do you get your information on 3dfx existing on credit lines only? its not yahoo finance or any other financial site. its pretty obvious that you have no clue what you're talking about based on those two statements alone. also, knowing that the v6k would be a low seller, it doesn't make any sense that they spent a whole ton of money on r&d for it. the SLI issues were worked out with the v2 and the v5. let software design the board, pop the chips in, ready to rock. the only issue was an agp bridge provided by intel that (gasp!) didn't work with anything but intel products. on the hsr side, they are obviously removing surfaces, all they have to do is improve their detection method. at any high-res fillrate/bandwidth limited situation it will improve performance. and just because you don't like multichip solutions doesn't mean they are wrong. i guess we should concentrate on getting all our computing power out of one huge expensive processor instead of a whole bunch of beowulf boxes. and ATi can execute? what are you basing that claim on? ATi has been known for shipping products late for quite a while now. they say they can compete with nvidia's planned obsolesence scheme, but theres no evidence that they can. do you see the radeon 2 on shelves yet? do you see good NT drivers? both these questions have to be answered satisfactorily before anyone can claim that ATi can execute.
