Why did Intel name its new line of cpus Core i7? Why not Core 3 Quad or something like that...? Actually, I might have preferred that... easier to see which cpus are actually quad cores...

"Barefoot" is a code-name just like "Nehalem" and "Thuban" are code-names. It doesn't really matter to us. Anyone who knows code names of a product are above average in computer knowledge.
