I think incest is against common sense.
I am not religious or conservative but, sex between two consenting adults is fine as long as they are not siblings.
Now do you call haing sex with cousins incest? That is another story.

Brother sister relationship is a non sexual one and why is it ask yorself or your brother if you have one.
If the entire human civilization's existence depended on the copulation of a brother and sister then its all right to some extend.
Apart from that, I do not see any need for incest.
The Human Being is a social animal. That means he/she follows some rules of a society. Humans follow and respect ceratain relationships. Incest breaks the relationship and values it represents.

I think if I can ask a question about farting in cans, sealing it, and sniffing it 10 years later, you have the right to ask this sort of question; and it is an interesting one at that. I don't know why so many people are flaming you for it, I don't get any sort of sense that you're actually for incest or trying to promote it in any way. Just simply asking a valid question.

Anyway, being a biologist, my point of view on why incest is wrong is simply that which a number of other people have pointed out: that inbreeding over a number of generations will produce a higher frequency in the expression of genes that adversely affect the children.

Well, that's not the only reason why I'm against inbreeding. I mean, what if you had a little boy with your mom? Would he be your brother or son? Or if you had a little boy with your sister, would that make the kid your sister's son or nephew? Hmm....

I think one of the things that makes everyone cringe when the think of incest is the fact that after you grow up side-by-side with your bro/sis, it is nearly impossible to think of them in any kind of non-platonic way. Most of the reasons that incest is taboo today can probably be traced back to the Bible. I know there are a lot of people who will disagree, but I think a lot of things that are considered wrong can be traced back to religion in one way or another.

I don't think it's wrong, just that experiences tell us not to do so..

just like lion cub will be forced to leave the family and start his own, they know instinctively. I guess that's why most people feel sick about it otherwise the human race might not look like what it is today.

but of course, like many genetic cross-linking, there are bound to be people who feel differently. Since the danger of extinction in such gene is greatly reduced in modern society, I would expect that more and more people would feel ok about incest.

Well, Juniper, what more do you seek? I think your question has been answered numerously. I think your failure to consider that and insist on an answer along your line suggests that you're set on believing it is not wrong so long as they have no kids. So, why take up people's time?

Here's how the question is answered: Okay, so they don't plan on having kids. Nonetheless, have not you ever heard of people who did not plan on having kids but their "love" for each other was soo strong they ended up having at least one kid? Haven't you ever heard of that? Or are you saying all incest relationships will require that the woman tie up her tube and the man do some operation to become sterile? That, I submit to you, would be unconstitutional and intrusive; so it isn't feasible here. Secondly, if such behaviour is encouraged under the assumption or promotion that each incest couple does not "plan" on having kids or is "forbidden" from having kids, don't you think that would be a huge leap? Let's see, such move would be affording them a big liberty and an acceptance of such conduct. From such stepping stone, a movement can eventually stem for the rights to have kids and couples secretly having kids. Lastly, wouldn't the mere fact that the law of nature does not allow for such suggest that encouraging the gathering even if they have no kids is not a healthy situation either?

Morals do not exist for nothing or for religious reasons. They exist for the good and safety of mankind in most cases. I do not think we are any smarter than our forefathers who knew ages long why incest would be forbidden.

Juniper, perhaps you can now see why people are suspicious that you were involved in such situation. Perhaps they are wrong, but in case you couldn't see how all of those responses expressing suspicion came, maybe this made it clearer?

Anyway, I hope my response has finally answered your question. If it didn't, I guess there's nothing one can do to satisfy your inquiry.
