Because if you wanna upgrade your car parts in Froza, you have to use real money. WTF?

Okay, you will not be required to purchase stuff. I see no issue with it.

Stuff like this has been going on for years (i.e. selling everquest names on ebay).

I find it more annoying that they put tons of ads in modern video games.

They are going to use a system of micropayments where you 'buy' enhancements to the game you already pay for. Want a better swoard, that'll be a dollar. . .want a new paint job on your car - that'll be 50 cents - want an ingredient for your favorite spell - pony up 75 cents, etc. .. .

IT IS NOT REQUIRED.

Don't buy stuff if you want.

I'm sure things will be geared so that you'll won't get as much pleasure if you don't.

We are talking about revenue aren't we?

I've got no problem with it at all, unless of course they force you to purchase new stuff to beat games... then it's a problem. As mentioned before in the thread, people selectively pay for EQ accounts, gold, items, etc. Heck there's even a website dedicated to where you can just go a buy stuff for your characters. Quitcherbitchin'

Oh, and your arguement is almost as bad as epsilon's arguement in Software (where, he says Blizzard sucks because they're charging $12 a month for WoW, instead of charging $5 a month instead and being kind to the community)

That article has nothing to do with the XBox - it has to do with the NEW XBox (XBox 360 is the name I most recently heard). XBox > ALL

it seems paying for the thing isnt enough.. this is why I dont like those MMORPGs.. I can understand if they need money for maintenance of servers, but if blizzard can run diablo for how many years and still have it free.. then microsoft is just being downright greedy.

What does this have to do with the XBOX? This will only affect XBox2 games.

That said, it's pretty lame to have to pay real $$ to buy something in a Virtual World. The whole reason I play video games in the first place is escapism; that I can buy a Ferrari in a driving sim, knowing that I'll probably never be able to afford one in real life. Having to pay for things like this in a game in the future kinda ruins it, even if it is a few cents or couple bucks.

Not a bad idea really. Maybe we can get more content in a game rather then the standard 10 hour throw away.

This is a finer tuned scale than what is already happening, they already have pay for download content... new levels and stuff. WHO CARES IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, DONT PAY FOR IT.

but the thing you're missing is that the items that are sold in eq, diablo, etc are items that are found...if you can also find every item they sell in the game i would have no problem with it...the problem is...if you can only buy these items it makes the gameplay unfair...in eq if you dont buy the item using real money you can find it somewhere or buy it from a vendor in the game...if they make it where these items can only be bought through their purchase system everyone isnt getting a fair chance at the game...so you would be ok with first buying the console..then buying the game...then buying the internet connection you get on with...then buying the xbox live subscription...and on top of all that buying items in the fvcking game? thats going too far
