Yeah I know he's a complete moron, but he's also harmless, which can't be said of his opponent Jim DeMint.

Sen. DeMint introduces bill blocking net neutrality, perceived FCC overreach
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) introduced a bill on Wednesday designed to block the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from imposing net neutrality and other regulations.

The Freedom for Consumer Choice Act (FCC Act) would force the commission to prove consumers are being harmed by lack of choice before it can impose new rules.
And just to take it over the top he clinches it with some doublespeak that would impress even George Orwell.
“The FCC’s rush to take over the Internet is just the latest example of the need for fundamental reform to protect consumers,” DeMint said in a statement on Wednesday. “Congress must pass the FCC Act to protect consumer choice in media services

So your have the choice between a benign moron, or someone who is deliberately undermining the interests of the people he claims to serve, who do you pick ?

Only because you're not paying attention.

The bill wants to end net neutrality, and then place the burden of proof on you to show that you're being harmed by the change. That basically means you get to go to court against comcast/att, how do you think that's going to go ?

I don't want Alvin Greene. I want Jim DeMint because he's against the Fed, because of the FCC Act, and because of his membership in the Republican Liberty Caucus.

If Greene wins, I'm going to be so pissed.

Alvin Greene could be South Carolina's Roman Hruska.

He still may well be preferable to Senator DeMented.

I think he should run for president, he's about as qualified as our current president and he can't have as many skeletons in his closet as Barry.

The people(highly educated Dems) voted for him.

If ever there was one, this is the perfect example of how the two party system has screwed us. We have a choice between a complete buffoon and a guy who's doing his best to make sure we have no choice in internet service and that ISP's control us completely. :(

It would be great if he won (esp as I don't live in SC, the biggest joke of a state in the Union.) Not only would SC be stuck w/ him for 6 yrs, we can all enjoy the crazy shit he'll come up with, and could not get worse than DeMento and not manage to get impeached.

If we can figure out a way for Spidey to start sending him campaign contributions we can complete the circle of Fail.

It's amazing how many people will vote for Greene even after having seen him in action. (In inaction?) There are many Republicans I would never vote for and damned few Democrats (above local level) I would ever vote for, but I have no problem voting third party even if my candidate has no chance. Way I see it, the party of the lesser evil failed its obligation to provide a sufficiently lesser evil choice. This Yellow Dog shit of either party should be withheld for the very worst cases, of which Demint clearly isn't one.

I predict that Greene will use the "mysterious dude" defense on his fee. This dude came up to me and said "Man, I'd love to see some action figures of you some day. You in your army uniform, you in a suit, you as a Red Sox pitcher, you as an astronaut . . . And I represent several other like-minded individuals. And we'd like to give you this money order for $10,404."

I don't know why I still find it shocking how much crap is spewed in support of net neutrality...

This is not a net neutrality thread, so no need to get into that discussion, but bottom line: I have a choice of 1 single high speed provider, who has been given a local monopoly so there is no competition. If that provider is allowed to treat traffic differently the way they'd want, the ISP would essentially control what I could or could not do on the internet. I have a problem with my ISP controlling what sites I should visit. Maybe you don't, but I do.

LOL

This is the mindset of the typical voter today. A vote that will be based on a single issue and an issue that they the voter doesn't even understand. You don't even recognize government doublespeak for what it is. To think that the most pressing issue before us today is the red herring of net neutrality is truly sad.

By all means vote for Greene as he's someone you'll relate to fully. When you contact him with a concern or question, you'll both be on the exact same page.

It's true, we get the government we deserve.

You mean you don't see how preferential treatment of packets leads directly to controlling your life? Oh the drama of it all, just think of the children!

Thread bump! Alvin Green has been indicted on felony charges, and also cleared of any wrong-doing on paying his fee. Bank records show that he saved his army pay for two years to make the fee. (Sorry to all the batshit crazy progressive conspiracy theorists convinced that the evil Republicans had co-opted your primary.)

Still amazed that showing porn to a co-ed is a felony offense. Actually, still amazed that this guy could even find porn AND print it out.

I would vote for Greene just for the lulz. Did anyone see that show Michael Moore had where he ran a bunch of ads for people to write in "Ficus" (a plant) to run against an unchallenged politician? In the end, the ficus plant actually won the election, but was disqualified because it's a plant.
