Why I might hate Battlefield 3.

Turn down the brightness on your monitor.

Turning off the monitor also works. Then you have an excellent, extremely realistic blind soldier simulation.

I think the textures and shading and all of that is gorgeous. However, the lighting does kind of have me on the fence. It seems a little unnatural, and against the other realistic stuff, it kind of jumps out to me. Too much bloom? The lighting in Crysis seemed a lot more natural to me.. or at least 'softer'.

You called me out as being stupid, let me return the favor.

OptimumSlinky (as quoted, which you agreed with) said they wear sunglasses because of the intensity. Wearing these sunglasses should help with that, right????
So, why aren't the soldiers in the game wearing sunglasses? OH WAIT, THEY ARE! Hmm, maybe the one we're controlling isn't. What a dummy.

Also, to respond to OptimumSlinky himself, are you telling me that it's so bright in real life that you can't see 50 yards in front of you to make out any kind of details in the terrain? If that's the case, perhaps you need perscription Oakleys.

I have watched the same video you are linking on youtube but in the native 1080P HD 1 gig format they link on the BF site and I don't see the issue.
It's not overly bright and you can still clearly see to the horizon.

Problem not found.

This game looks fvcken awesome......

got rid of the stupid stamina bar, thank goodness..

i may cash in for a desktop just to play this game!

My major complaint with recent games is that everything is so fucking dark all the time. Thank god someone modeled the real world where the sun actually exists.

Actually, we were tinted ballistic eye protection because some general somewhere decided it was a good mandate for all troops outside the wire.

And maybe I'm just a big pansy because my eyes hurt in the desert out here without eye pro. I don't know. Feel free to come out on patrol and let me know your thoughts on the visibility.

All I know is this:
- on sunny days (of which there are a lot), this place is bright as f@ck, so bright it will make your eyes hurt
- as I said before, developers over use light flares/bloom/effects in general
- it's Wickin' Wednesday, so be sure to wear your moisture wicking under shirt and hydrate, people.

I live in sunny ass So Cal, if it looked like that outside I would never leave the house, I don't see how anyone can say that looks natural. Games that are too dark suck, but ones that are way too bright suck too.

The other thing we didn't mention is that your character in Battlefield is probably taking his Doxy like he was ordered to and now is overly sensitive to light as well. It's why you can't see. That and he lost his Oakleys.
