Why I love my job

The freedom! It's a hell of a lot of work (I'll have to work 12 hour days in the summer because I'm the managing editor of the sourcebook, which means I have to compile a 1,000 page book) but the sense of freedom's unlike anything I've experienced.. "What time should I come in?" I asked. "Whenever, as long as you get your work done" was the answer. No one looking over my shoulder, no one stressing me out. I woke up a little late today and left my apartment at 8:30, which meant that I got to work at 9:10... Most of the office wasn't even in yet so I had no need to stress.. I just took a break to go to J&R and my co-workers take breaks every few hours, our CEO even suggested that we take walks every now and then.

We're all doing our work without being micro-managed. We work stressful jobs but no one is here doing that muttering while walking quickly routine that I'm so used to at other offices. The CEO bought us apple cake yesterday after he took a client out to lunch - I just love the vibe here and wonder why more workplaces aren't like this. Though, the person I'm replacing told me that he has a sleeping bag and sleeps over sometimes to get the job done..So I'm sure that I'll be b!tching on the forum while stuck here on a friday night sometime in the future!

Didn't mean to brag or ask for a cookie, just wondering why more businesses don't use this approach. EVERYONE does their job here, everyone pulls their weight but no one is treated like a child.
