80 mph on route 78 West @ 4000 rpm

Car runs straight even with hands off the wheel
Not a hint of vibration
Powerband is untouched
Redline at 6750rpm
plenty of power left to pass...

:D

CORRECTION: It was 90mph @ 4000rpm. 80mph is 3400rpm . Reconfirmed on my commute home.

eh, nothing exciting about that. 80mph is nothing. take it up to 115 and see how it does.

yeah but you'll be redlining, probably have loads of vibrations, and if your tires are rated at like 120mph you'll find yourself in a ditch in quite a hurry.

My max is high 3s I think at 80 mph. At least 3500. I hate that. I wish the fvcker had a long 6th gear.

That's no diff from any car at top speed :) Mine will do early mid 140's, although it won't need to redline to do it (drag). I think 5th gear is good for around 160.

I'm at 3k at 80mph (I think redline is 6.6k), and even at around 125mph (closed course!) I had ample power left. There's not a hint of vibration from 0mph to 125mph, and if you're not careful you get there without even noticing.

Not a chance. Crown Vic would be turning a little over 2,500 RPM at 80. 4,000 RPM at 80 mph indicates either a pretty average 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder set up for spirited driving.

I love hills like that. I switch the computer over to the fuel mileage display so I can see the V8 getting 99 mpg. ;)

Yeah, it's such a shame when the second one has to sit in your lap... Oh wait, it's not. ;)

You are correct, sir!
The Duratec V6 is also the heart of the SVT version, but with an additional 25 hp--13% more peak power from an engine that already did a good job of generating impressive output from not much displacement. In fact, 76.6 hp per liter from a non-supercharged engine is one of the better performance figures in the business. We can only think of a couple engines at the small end of the spectrum that top the SVT version of the Duratec in the power-per-liter derby, both from Honda, both four-cylinders.

How'd they do that? Without getting into too much detail, the key elements are different cams with different timing, different pistons with a higher compression ratio, and extensive massaging of the intake system.
