exactly, its stupid. Your album WAS cool and punk, people buy it, it is still the same album, but suddenly you are a sellout and your music is pop. I love these people. I don't think 99.9% of people have heard of Lasgo, when I find someone that has, I'm glad, I don't suddenly hate it.

<angry high school punk voice> Dude, Lasgo? Man, they're SO sellouts! I mean, they've got money and they're still good and they haven't changed their music, but DUDE! People LISTEN to them! We gotta HATE them now! Anarchy! F*ck the system!

/flailing arms

Aw crap man, I'm tangled in my 78 dog-chains and piercings. WEAK, DUDE!

well, it's good to know that you don't judge people based on how they look.

Punk is about doing what you want to do and not giving a s*** about what others think. So if you hate punk, what are we supposed to do? Cry?

since when is punk trendy?

I still see rap/hiphop and pop on MTV all the freaking time. ARRRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear a lot of you guys mentioning Good Charlotte. I know they're pretty much basically just flavor-of-the-week music (now), but has anyone heard any of their old stuff? They used to sound a lot different (like back in high school and right after). By the way, I went to high school with them, if anyone cares about that kind of thing. 😛

my sister still insists that they are punk.

Oxymoron - Weirdoz
Blitz - Someones Gonna Die

Download those two songs and tell me with a straight face you don't like punk 😀

Honestly, I don't care what you call it; if it's good music, I'll listen to it. Right now I'm on a Doobie Brothers tear; man, their stuff is great! But tell your sister you know someone who went to High School with Benji and Joel, and who's aunt used to babysit them. Or not...it's my only claim to (semi-)fame!

Kurt Cobain described Nirvana as "heavy rock with punk overtones." So while not entirely punk, there is definitely an element of punk in their music.

IMO In Utero is about as "punk" as you can get. They were insanely successful with the more polished Nevermind and they went completely raw on their follow-up.

They're not. They weren't when their first major record came out either.

Example #1 - They completely changed the cover of their first major release before the release of their new record becuase the drummer was on the cover and they kicked his ass out. That is not cool.

They are melodic upbeat bubblegum pop-punk. Oh, and they suck live.

BUT thoes people are outcasted from the punk community. because they SOLD OUT. yes. sell out music is trendy, becasue its what teeny bopper kids like to hear. a clean cut sound.

TRUE punk music, the stuff from the heart, and truely defines punk.
1. The Vandals
2. NOFX
3. AFI
4. Digger
5. NIRVANA
Hold up a sec, you just said NOFX and The Vandals are drastically different from NFG and the like? Sorry, you are mistaken. I've heard all of them, and your second list is just as bad as the first. Except Nirvana...what the hell are they doing on there

What the fvck are you talking about? Seriously, I want to know exactly what songs you are comparing because what you just wrote makes no sense to me. All NFG sing about is girl problems. I have yet to hear one song by them that isn't about whining over a girl (and I've heard them all, my cousin is obsessed with this crap).

Tell me how NOFX compares to them or pass the pipe you're smoking...

i met Blink 182. my friends band fat tony opened for them. they are really nice guys, albeit, very, very immature

Everybody is entitles to their opinion I suppose.

I'm not sure where you get the idea that all punk rock is screaming.

And these guys wrote their music about what they care about, so I'd like to know what bands you think have soul.

I personally like Goldfinger, No Use For A Name, AFI, and a whole bunch of other bands.

I like them too, it has nothing to do with whether or not they sold out - I don't care about that. They are just funny as hell.

It just proves how much he really knows about what is he talking about. No offense, but if you think NFG and NOFX are even remotely close in styles, you haven't been listening.

You quote a line "You're not the boss of me now and you're so big" and hate punk because of it? That's not punk. It's crappy, weak, pussified, pop-punk.

Sorry if I haven't analyzed every lyric, but the best way to compare two songs is to only half listen to them. That way you pick up what it sounds like, the style, that sort of thing. I'm talking to a brick wall here, if there were a Blink182 song that was word for word, chord for chord the same as one of the bands you like, you still wouldn't listen to me. GO ANARCHY WOO FVCK AUTHORITY

Then half listen to these two songs:

NFG - My Friends Over You
Strung Out - Reason to Believe

tell me how they are similar
