First, someone always seems to fart walking up the stairs from the subway. Then you stand for 20 sniffing some guys danky pits on the bus. Then some smelly person decides to sit next to you after you finally get a window seat. I LOVE MY CAR!!

Mass Trasit (Subway) systems in Korea are very well maintained.
I can't say the same about the ones running in the US.

This is hilarious. I actually used our Ass Transit (MARTA) here in Atlanta about two months ago to get to the airport. The first thing to assault me was the stench of peepee as I entered the train. Dingy and stinky seems to be the rule for mass transit. Its funny, because the other day I see the train on the tracks and I think to myself: Man, that train sure smelled like piss!

Peace

I don't understand how so many people in our society can be completely oblivious of the odor that they put off... WEAR FREAKING DEODERANT... take a shower... lose some friggin weight so you don't sweat a river while standing in place... god I hate people...

2 subways and 3 long island buses lol!!

i thought my commute was crappy... 70-75min to get to my school... have to take 2/3 trains depending on how lazy i am.

if i drove it would take 50mins but i will have to find meter parking (haha thats another 10mins right there) or bend over in a parking lot.

I especially hated it when some guido or dweebette decided to drench themselves with so much perfume it makes you gag... NOES!!!

Even in Japan, I encountered that... I got used to the smell of stinky NYC subways pretty quick and thankfully the bus + subway ride was only 1 hour and the bus driver always had a clean bus with air on FULL BLAST.

I think it's homeless people that cause the odor (urinating in the subway tunnel.) Why are homeless people drawn to public transit?

when i visited Hong Kong a couple years back, they had an open-train system without doors from one car to the next. What it basically does is funnel all the body odor all the way down. It was pretty horrific.

Not much of an odor problem on Toronto's buses. Not sure about our subways, though.

I take the subway every day in Toronto. Never noticed an odor problem, luckily. I take it at rush hour though, so the people are generally clean!

I agree.
Seoul (of S. Korea) has population of 14 million and I've never had that 'stinking' problem.
Public transporation is,indeed, good as long as it's kept well.

When I was in Tokyo where a lot of people eat cabbage, I swear people were cutting f*rts left and right but it was terrible in the underground subways.

i think there are no hobo's in hong kong's subway. i like the open trains since they are better ventilated. also most of the subway stations are also AC'ed!

i'd pick the hong kong subway over the NYC subway anyday. manhatthan gets all the nice new trains and the ghetto parts of queens get the old rusty stinky trains. bastards!

When I visited NYC I was horrified by the stench in the subway system. It is like this thick, putrid stink that fills up the whole platform. Furthermore, the whole place was filthy, and you could see rats running around in the track area.
