Actually, Islam does have a history of peace in its golden age, but it also has a history of war. Same is true for Christianity.
Btw, if you modelled your life after Jesus, a few incidents like the one with the moneychangers in the temple would get you jailed quickly, and your peace activisim wouldn't be likely to get you revered by the vast majority of the American populace.

There's a good article in The Economist this week about the internal divide in the Muslim world between liberal and fundamentalist Muslims on the state of Islam and its perception by the rest of the world.
well said, the terrorists there do nothing but fuel hatred for the western world, with their religion bs and the people in the middle east seem to support their actions.

I dont give a shat about your religion, thats your buisness. If and when your religion effects me than its my buisness. As long as you dont beleive in killing/oppressing me, than I am perfectly fine with any type of religion you have. This goes for most people.

There are many things in this world that prevent us "from getting together and loving one and other." such as greed, money, power etc which can have little to do with religion. Some people worship "money" and will do anything to get a lot of it, so are you saying that we abolish money too? THere are numerous things that people idolize and worship, but religion is the easiest you can blame because you obviously don't follow any.

Religion is by far the biggest obsticle.I am saying it would be a great start.
Religon is not for smart people.It is for weak people who are afraid to use their brains.So of course I don't follow any...I mean who in the world with some brains would believe when someone tell them there is a GOD but we cant see or smell him.He on the other end is created all these things like earth ,sun,space.He is why you and I exist.Ahh and if you do bad you will burn in hell.He is watching us from up there somewehere and taking notes.

The Quran is the only book that a major religion adheres to that tells its followers to kill those who don't follow it and its religion. I hate organized religion, but I have a special place in teh bottom of my cold, dead heart for Islam and its blind practitioners. Original poster, why don't you open it up and read us a few passages about how you have to convert everyone "by word or by sword" to Islam, or maybe read a few passages about how Muslims should kill all infidels. I'll find all the passages in the bible that instruct its followers to kill.

SickBeast, if you really read the bible, then what's wrong with you? Who cares if the bible says you should accept it as being true. It's just a version of history. The most improtant difference here is that it NEVER puts the power of judgement in the hands of its followers, as the Quran does.

im afraid to get active in this thread because i will probably cry. seriously. You might not know it, but there are lots and lots of muslims in America right now. im one of them. Would it surprise you if i told you that i was a quarter chinese, and 3/4 german? NOT ALL Muslims are of middle eastern origin. Just like any other religions. I wont try to convince you to join the Islam faith, because it is up to YOU to decide, not anyone else. If you decide to deny God, Allah, or what other names for God, then its between you and God. I will let God decide for you. Im not here to judge, but it pains me to see this amount of hatred towards my religion. It pains me also when people hide behind my faith, such as the Saudi family, Bin Laden, and almost any other extremist, in my religion we teach of peace, but mostly to show you the good in the world. All non-extremists, dont consider the extreemists apart of our religion. They have fallen from the true meaning and our blinded. Before i continue to rant on i have the most important thing to say: I dont care if you are a Jew, christian, buddhist, whatever, as long as you can find God in YOUR OWN way thats what matter. No religion is wrong it is just a different intrepretations, maybe a few like Followers, and other cults religions are wrong, but thats not the point. If you can go outside to world and see the bad, but also the good that God created, then thats better than going to church everyday. Thats my two cents, i hope that when you r done reading this that you will gain some knowledge.
