Why has comcast still not fixed their DNS server?

I couldn't figure out why half the sites I tried to visit weren't loading. I kept resetting my modem and router with no luck. Finally I checked my DNS settings and I discovered that there were at the default settings. I changed them to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.3 and every site loads now.

My questions is WhyTF hasn't comcast fixed their DNS servers yet? :|

It's not a problem everwhere apparently (I had comcast for 8 months and never had a single problem with DNS) and they probably don't lose much business because of it. Most technically savvy users change their DNS if it's a serious problem and the average joe just assumes it'll fix itself.

No problems here either. Although I'm thinking about setting up an internal DNS server as a backup just in case.

I've had numerous inexplicable problems this week as well, altho I've already got them set to 4.2.2.1 etc.

How do I set them again? I've been having trouble with Comcast lately.

goto your connection properties, click on internet protocol (tcp/ip), click properties, and select use the following DNS server addresses. then enter 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.3.

hmm... the only reason I've heard about Treewalk DNS is because users on the Verizon / dslreports forum keep complaining about their DNS servers being crap...
