Guess what, if you're going to be an asshole and call somebody on something, make sure it's correct.

It's Guild Wars, dick.

The way I understand it, one of the big selling points is that it is an MMORPG (such as WoW), but without the monthly fees. So instead of paying $XX to purchase the game and $YY to play each month, you just have to shell out the initial purchase price. It's a very tempting model, and it will be interesting to see if they can continue to offer decent service to the customers without additional income. It appears they will try to offer additional chapters (expansion packs) for sale, which open up new gameplay options.

No, it's not what you said. You said Guildwars. Note how there is no space in what you said.

If you're going to get all pissy about him forgetting an 's', or his capitalization, expect for me to get pissy when you forget a white space and capitalization.

I kinda want to try out Guild Wars, I'm torn between that and WoW. I have been asking so many friends what they think and of course they are biased to the game that they are playing. Such a tough choice.

It has no monthly fees because it is half an mmorpg played on rails in a very dumbed down way.

There's simply nothing to justify a monthly fee and it gets very old very quick.

Think 3D, Online, Diablo with servers full of 1337 d00d's and you are on the right tracks.

I was thinking about trying this out but I have made the decision to stop playing MMORPGs after I get tired of WoW. They are too addicting and take too much time.

Many people i talk to think that it is an MMO identical and equally massive, immersive, and as indepth as World of Warcraft, EverQuest, etc. without a monthly fee therefore they want to try an MMORPG (they have never played an MMO before because of the monthly fee) and buy it.

I have been playing guild wars for a few weeks now and quite enjoy it. I dont feel the looming pressure to play it cuz there is no monthly fee, the quests are not based purly on loot and killing mobs. Its not a huge time sink and getting a group to go questing is done in a matter of minutes, not hours and hours of "lv 20 Elementalist LFG!"

The entire game is based completing quests and missions, not on mobs kills for experience points (XP), for many mobs give very little XP, some zero, but at the end of a long mission you can get 500-4000 XP.

This is deffinetly not an MMOrpg, the community aspect of the game feels quite lacking really. Each town/outpost is really nothing more then an ingame "waiting room" where you can chat, buy/sell/trade your wares and found loot during your adventures on missions.

Currently im about to do the final mission in Hell's Precipice (Ring of Fire) and i have to say that it was one heck of a storyline so far.

All in all i still really like this game. For those of you who liked Diablo 1 and 2, that like a good hack n slasher with a very decent story/quest driven system, should really try this one out.

Ive been playing it for weeks and the appeal to me is the free monthly, engaging single player missions, ability to teamup with friends and also form a guild and also the guild vs guild PVP aspect. Plus they guarantee new content every 6 months

EQ1 > WoW > Guild Wars

I was a high end eq player for 5 years, then went to WoW, and tried guild wars. The game is horrible, waste of the $86 I spent on collectors edition. Diablo 2 blew it away.

Supposedly they are going to offer new gameplay elements/additional content for free down the line. So I wonder where they'll get their money from; maybe in-game adds :Q Imagine a pepsi add on the cave entrance :D
