Why drink Guinness straight from the bottle?

Thats what it says, but anyone knows why?

I never seen any other beer that says to drink straight from the bottle.

Cans say pour into glass immediately because the Widget releases the co2 nitrogen mixture all at once in the can.

In the bottle the special bottle Widget releases a little bit of the CO2 nitrogen mixture every time you tip it back, so if you pour it into a glass the widget is not releasing all of the special goodness.

Ah I did not know that MixMaster. Guess I've only gotten the cans for the most part when I do buy Guinness.

Haha sounds like a decent experiment dude, report back w/ that. ;)

Ummmm... I would say smoother... but it could be because the beer stays warmer in the bottle than in a 20oz mug (More beer surface area exposed to hotter air + more hand-glass contact)

I've only had the bottles once, and I drank it out of the bottle so I couldn't compare. I always buy the cans since I do prefer to drink it from the imperial pint glass.

Here's also another bit of information. When pouring a guinness from tap most bartenders do the two part pour but their first mistake is most only fill the imperial pint glass half way instead of filling it to just above the bottom yellow line on the Guinness Imperial Pint Glass, but the 2nd mistake that 99% of bartenders make is when topping it off. After the Guinness settles you should top it off by pressing the tap handle backwards instead of pulling it forward like normal. When pressing it backwards the amount of gas (co2/nitrogen mix) is a bit different and makes it flow slower and thicker.

Here is a YouTube video showing how to properly pour it, but he explains the topping it off a little different than they did at the Gravity Bar in Dublin.

Because: Beer is Food. It would be impolite to consume beer from your fingers. The bottle is your utensil.
