Wonder you hardly find beautiful girls in the IT sector. I've hardly seen any decent girls doing programming. Whats the reason ?

I don't know about "IT", which is a label that makes me think of helpdesks and other entry level jobs in the computer industry.

If you're talking about "computer science", then the proof is:

Computer Science == Logic
Girls != Logic
Computer Science != Girls

Because many hot chics got by for so many years on their looks, that they didn't take education too seriously. They end up becoming hair dressers, stylists, and other various occupations where you are paid from the head down. i.e they don't use their brain that much. If they're really smart, they realize that there is more than that our there for them, and they pursue it.

Well with IT I meant software development not 'call center' or 'help desk' ..
but funny reason though :D

I always thought of IT as the nannys that watch over the children (users/developers). As in, they keep the infrastructure going, despite the obstacles.

Casue programmers are the nerdiest of the nerds...
super uber geeks.. and hot chicks dont find reading line after line of code as entertaining as you do...

we have several super cute MCSEs here both about 23-25 doing help desk work for BP.. so there are some hot geeks but none in programming =P

I don't mean to insult you legitimate IT guys.

It's just that at my university, we have a Computer Science program, and a separate Information Technology Management program. The ITM classes are full of pretty hot women who went into the program because they like chatting on MSN and making cute new blog templates. Whereas in my Comp Sci program, there exists exactly 4 females whom you have to directly interact with in order to gauge their gender status.

In short, I'm bitter. :p

Because 90% of women's intelligence is inversely proportional to their attractiveness. It's a fact. Unfortunately, half of what's left (5% for you math whizzes out there, which are mostly men) are ugly AND stupid. It's the 5%, "cream of the crop"-type that you have to look for.

There's a girl here at work who works in IT that's VERY attractive. The best part is, I swear to god, her name I Jennifer Lopez. I hope that mentioning her name doesn't somehow come back to haunt me, but that's too cool of a detail to leave out.

EDIT: Oh, and to be fair, since many women's #1 goal in life is security (and finding a partner that's successful), and many men have this ridiculous idea that stupid women are hot, many otherwise intelligent women literally FORCE themselves to be stupid so that more guys will find them attractive. I've seen it first-hand. This girl was extremely intelligent but would act like an idiot if she was around guys that she thought she had a chance with. She actually once told me (when a friend of mine was over that she liked) that I should upgrade my video card in the following manner: "You should just upgrade your video blaster to get more bits."

Its because the hot girls in IT usually don't last because they can't get other people do their work for them the way they can in school.

I think the % of women in IT that are "hot" are probably the same % of people in any other profession that are hot. In fact I'd say roughtly 7-10% of the regular population could be "hot". That seems about right in the IT field too. for every 10 ugly there is one hot one. With the exception of hairstylists....sorry, cosmotologists.
