Why don't we have this in the US? (Self Freezing Coke)

*taps sarcasm meter*

This has nothing to do with Coke, or Hong Kong.. lol.

Give me a US vending machine and I could do the same thing with any beverage contained inside of it by simply turning the thermostat down.....

Like said before, the ice crystals would hurt someone and they'd sue Coke for millions of dollars.

this doesn't exist in the US because it really doesn't add value to the product

heck, even the guys that made the video admit its disappearing in Hong Kong

Frozen soda defeats the purpose of soda in the first place because it effectively nullifies the effect of carbonation, so its basically just like drinking a flat, albeit very cold, soda. And flat soda can be very unappetizing.

I've seen these a lot but being winter I'd be damned to cough of the 11 bucks for the damn thing. Maybe when the summer comes full bore I might get that desperate.

ugh. I hate hong kong summers. 90+ degrees, ~100% humility, and one of the highest population densities in the world makes it really unpleasant.

I saw some really cool stuff on super cooled water on Discovery or History channel. They blamed it on a big jet crash. The water is well below freezing but yet can't freeze because there is no "seed" or whatever you want to call it (I forget the chemistry/physics term) for the crystal to form on. In the jet crash, the plane and it's air speed meteres were the seed and immediately were covered in huge sheets of ice, the heaters had no way to keep up.

There was a Nova episode that went into this in some detail regarding the Air France flight that crashed off Brazil. Really good episode.

channel is pretty amusing.. lol mcdonalds green bean pie

Green bean and red bean desserts are not bad actually. They are sweet and the bean really is a matter of texture but I haven't had the bean pies at McDonald's. A common dessert out here are sweet soups like red or green bean soups, almond soup, walnut soups, etc.

I've never thought to cronicle all the off-beat foods here but there certainly are a plethora of items here for their channel. One of my favorites are cuttlefish. Don't see them too much in the States as opposed to squid but they look like cute little Cthulhu's. Other than that they are generally cooked like squid and taste like it too.
