Why don't we have a rating/feedback system?

For example, over at AnabolicMinds, you can approve or disapprove of a person's post. However many points you cause them to gain/lose is based on how many points you have at the time. You cannot give out too many points in one day, and you cannot give out too many points to 1 person without spreading it to others first.

Then you can look at someone's total posts and find out pretty quickly whether they have 300 posts of quality stuff or 3000 posts of crap.

perhaps your suggestion could go in the suggestion box, although in general, only pirates suggestions are taken seriously. i mean , who is going to listen to a ninja?

lol didn't I just make a topic an hour ago about how stupid topic rating is? Post rating is even stupider.

I post on a Cowboys forum that has thing, they call it "spek" (short for respect, clever huh), and its really stupid.

Why do you care what other people think of your AT status???

b/c I would automatically rate all of casiotech threads as crap giving him as little points as possible

lol - different strokes for different folks I guess. I just find it useful when somebody is making a suggesting or responding to a questions to see how much "rep" they have. It lets me know if this person is knowledgable and actually contributes or if he/she is just full of crap and I can ignore.

btw, if a person doesn't listen to a ninja, it's probably the last time he's going to not listen to anything.....b/c his eardrums will be punctured by a shuriken!!!

Lets look at it this way....back in the old days, I used to post quite often in the video forum, commenting on new hardware, helping people with problems with their 3d setups, etc. I'd like to see I was a pretty good contributer there. Lets say I still did that today. I can assure you my "rep" would be quite low, because I post football predictions in OT (and everyone whose favorite team I "insult" will rate me low). So, should someone in the video forum think I'm "not helpful or a good contributor" because of this, and thus negate my well-intentioned suggestions?

I clearly don't care what anyone on AT thinks of me, but I'd hate for that to hurt other people. haha.

At any rate...reputation, post count, user rating, topic rating....WHO CARES about any of it??

Ya, I get what your saying. It probably wouldn't work b/c people would screw with it.

How about this. You cannot negatively affect somebody's points, only add to it? Huh? Ya!

but you can't b/c we'd all start at 0. So a bunch of people with 0 points giving others 0 points would never add up. Plus you can't give too many points to 1 person without spreading it around first. It's all so perfect and exciting that I just ate my soda can!

Like we're going to listen to anyone who has a 2.1 rating!
