why don't they remake X-Wing / Tie Fighter Series?

Why can't they make something simliar? I'd say those games are the best star wars games EVER! Screw galaxies and jedi knight. Give me missle runs with my Y-Wing any day!

If they did, they would probably end up screwing it up somehow. I would love to see a remake with better graphics.

But yeah, that was a great series.

A-Wing>B-Wing>Y-Wing

X Wing > B Wing > A wing >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Y wing.

well... A wings are just the most awesome for star ship turkey shoots. nothing compares to flying fast down on top of a blockade runner, and dropping space bombs right at the neck of it.

w/o targeting 😀

A-Wing>B-Wing>Y-Wing

Totally different types though. B and Y are bombers, A is an interceptor, X is a multirole fighter. If ya gotta take down a cruiser, then there's no arguing, Bwing all the way. Dogfight, it's either X or A.

Yeah I know. I really just like the look of the A.

Umm... hello ? It's called Freelancer.

I'm sure some of you won't like it since it's not the "original", but it makes for hours of fun anyway.

IIRC I prefer the Y-wing for bombing runs, and the A-wing for straight dogfights. 🙂

I faintly recall the gunboat...

damn it lucas arts!

played it, almost finished it, glaring problems: too much travel time between areas, very linear if you follow the story, fighting was fairly easy and not as challenging as x-wing/tie fighter, one more................................ oh yeah NOT STAR WARS.

eh... I'll take a Z-95 headhunter over those any day. 😀

I always enjoyed piloting a TIE fighter more than any of the rebel ships. But of the rebel ships the X-wing was my favorite. The A-wing didn't have enough punch and the Y was just too old and feeble. The B would have to be my 2nd choice. On the Empire side of things the TIE Intercepter and the TIE Advanced were my favorite to fly (the Defender was just too powerful to be fun to play with most of the time). I like flying the normal TIE's too, but the bombers and the TAU's just sucked to play with. Too slow and not very manuverable.

Damn I remember back in early 90's when I was playing X-Wing on my 386DX 40 Mhz

With my keyboard, that was really difficult.

I aways feared TIE Advanced whenever I encountered those monsters, especially when I was in a Y-Wing

Man, I LOVED Tie Fighter... played through that game so many times with insane amount of kills. TIE Interceptor and TIE Advanced rocked my world.

I definitely agree with the comment about the Assault Gunboat as the swiss army knife of starfighters.

I never did finish X-Wing Alliance... never really liked the Rebel ships quite as much either thought the Falcon was FAST.

I have X-Wing Alliance but it doesn't run properly under Win2k. 🙁 I get jerky framerates even with eyecandy turned all the way down. On the exact same machine under ME the game runs fine... So I have to keep WinME on my HDD for Alliance and NFS High Stakes. Alliance is an awesome game, by the way. Comparable to the real classics - X-Wing and Tie Fighter.

Does anyone know if the problems I have with Alliance in Win2k are also present in WinXP?

Oh, and as far as classics go, I want more games like Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max!!! Lucasarts was - by far - the best game company back in the day!

my lord, those tie defenders were unstoppable. what was the name of the other ship? the one that was some kind of missile boat that could go up to 450 klicks or something like that?
