why don't they make the highway dividers higher to prevent rubbernecking?

I'd be happy just for concrete barriers between the highways in the Phoenix area (we've just got guidewires seperating heavy traffic on 3 freeways).

Reminds me of a case years ago on a locked psych unit I worked at.Nice, quiet young dude brought in on a section 12 against his will.Apparently he deliberately drove his car thru the highway road divider, that nobody was killed or injured was a miracle.

After he'd been on his meds for a few days he confided in me that he'd run thru the divider because he'd overslept that morning and was fearful he'd miss his pickup time with the mothership🙂

they raised the dividers on 836 near the Miami International Airport
pretty nice but it still has traffic

Have you ever seen sombody trying to look at something on the other side of the interstate as they go by? They twist and turn trying to get a good look, like their necks are made of rubber.

here in atlanta some of our highways are like that. Some places on 75, I know 85, some places on 285.

Still hasn't helped our horrible traffic situation.

/me looks at rain outside..

I agree 100%. I ALWAYS look
Great, so fvcking don't slow down while looking.

Yes!

And fail to realize that the car infront of you is slamming on his brakes because the guy infront of him is slamming on his brakes because the guy infront of him is rubbernecking!

Coincidence that someone who thinks 'u' is a word would also rubberneck (were he old enough to drive)? I think not 😉

Big portable curtains would be a great idea, too bad they're used rarely if ever. I once sat in gridlock for close to a half hour and was late to class because some guy who had a flat pulled over well off the side of the road to change it. WTF? 3-lane highway at a standstill for 30 minutes to watch some guy change a flat? I'm with the "kill 'em all" crowd on this one

I was actually stuck in 3 lane bumper to bumper traffic for *2 miles* on the INTERSTATE (it took like 30 mins to get through it) the day before thanksgiving, and it turns out the "problem" was an accident ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. AGGGGHGHHH.

Because:

A. It gets old when it happens EVERY DAY.

B. By the time you get to the accident, there's nothing to see except a bunch of idiots gawking out of their windows.

Have seen this countless times and it makes my blood boil at the stupid bastards who tied up traffic for everybody else because they think an accident scene is for their personal, liesurely enjoyment.
