Why don't the mods simply block the word "s--b"

...or any derivative thereof?

It seems to make much more sense to simply block the word rather than sending people on vacations for using it. Kinda like how they blocked "f-p"

Or do they just like sending people on vacations? 🙁

The entire point of MAKING "s***" a banned phrase was to prevent the complete and utter abuse that all the members who couldnt fabricate anything smarter to post subordinated.

We've had this conversation before here and the thread was deleted. The sheer banning per se of a word based on the abuse of it by immature and incompetent people is exactly that: immature and incompetent. Those who chose to excercise brainpower in the use of the english language should be able to do so, and those who chose to disregard that concept can bear the wrath of the members who self-police the forums and value intellectual diction.

as evadman mentioned, that is not my point. why make words taboo to begin with?

and yes, that is a rhetorical question.

Gopunk has a very good point. Making a word taboo is just plain silly. I can understand not wanting posters and mods to say "**** her" or "**** him," but there are other harmless and useful ways the word may be used. Take the above linked to thread for instance. He didn't advocate **abing anything, yet he was banned for using a long used and harmless phrase that even our parents and their parents used.

I can't agree with that.
