why don't the console game companies buy out each others consoles?

If MS resells the units on eBay then they get into the hands of consumers. Sony (and MS) are willing to take a loss on consoles in order to get market penetration to make money off of games and peripherals. If MS buys up the PS3s and resells them, Sony wouldn't care one bit.

Microsoft would do more damage if they bought a PS3 and hacked it so that games could be copied onto the hdd and made the hack public through 3rd parties.

example, microsoft makes money on 360s, sony loses hundreds on each ps3. why shouldn't microsoft send out there employees to buy ALL the ps3s and recycle/scrap/store/etc them.
