Why don't taco bell employees wear gloves?

They dig around in the meat and tomatoes and stuff and then clog it into your burritos and tacos all with their BARE HANDS!!! You just KNOW they don't wash their hands...or wipe their nose with their hands and then serve you. It just seems stange that they can get away with that. Am I the only one bothered by this???

I usually end up getting sick there and then I just stop eating there for 1 solid year (I mark the date) before I return. That has happened twice now!

Btw I am going on 5 years since I have eaten at McDonalds for that reason! :disgust:

Thanks for the input.

What's the difference if they go to the bathroom with the gloves on.

It's actually easier. They can wipe with the gloves.

If this is bothering you shouldn't eat out at all.
The world's best chef's work like this. Where's the big deal ?

CinderElmo,

You must not eat out anywhere. By the way do you wear gloves at home? I worked in restaurants for 8 years. I even was managment a 2 different Taco Bells and the conditions and practices at most peoples home are a lot worse. There is stuff I do at home that I would never dream of doing in a restaurant. Now I know not every Taco Bell is as good as mine was but that can be said of any place. Some are good some are bad. Either way I would say at least 90% of the establishments out there do not use gloves.

nickdakick,

The best chef in the do not work like this. They are much worse. They will stick their fingers in the food to get a taste.

A friend and I ate at Taco Bell. He found a cigarette butt in his taco. We were eating inside at the time. He immediately called the manager who apologized and examined the cigarette butt. He recongized it, and told us that his cook has been warned about smoking on the job. He refunded us our money for lunch. Obviously we have never returned to any Taco Bell.

Yakko. Meat made of powder! Say it ain't so. Actually, if it is, I want to get ahold of it :)

I am the strongest man alive. Gastrointestinally anyway. Wow, that is a big word.

There are too many antibacterial everything's out there. Live in a bubble, go outside the bubble and die.

I eat what I eat, be it hot dogs, taco bell, poison, I don't care. It tastes good, I sit on the pot just as much as everyone else, and I never get sick. I'm exposed to everything and my immune system is in tip top shape. I keep it on its toes. I wash my hands after going to the bathroom, but that's about it. As long as taco bell workers don't have their hands in their cracks all day, don't spit in my food, and any bugs are already dead, I could care less if it tastes good.

I love Taco Bell. I think they should be required to wear gloves. However, when you go to McDonalds or Burger King notice that they don't wear gloves either. :|

Hey I am not saying live in a bubble and I know everywhere you go people will be touching your food...but to me there is a difference between putting a bun on a burger with their hands and physically digging around in a bin to put smeat on a taco. You can't tell me the associates working at most taco bells give a rat's a$$ about cleanliness or my food. If you ever see the cashier (dirty money) go make your food you better start planning your route to the nearest can!

The words "best chefs" and "taco bell" should never be used in the same sentence (not even this one!). I would much rather have a world renown chef working on the taco line rather than joe nose blow.

I guess this issue wasn't as obvious as I thought :( Maybe that is whey they don't use gloves? Thank god Subway does! :D

They use those cheap see through plastic throw awy gloves here inall the restereaunts and fast food places that I go to. Something about the laws governing a food handlers permit they all must have to get a job. But I'm sure if they run out of gloves, they don't shut down the restaurant either.

Cigerette butt in a taco? Me and the cook would be squared off in the parking lot over that B.S.:disgust:

They use gloves at almost all of the taco bells I go to. Even if they didn't, I don't think I'd care. You really don't know what the hell is going on in the kitchen of most restaurants really. For all you know, that salad with the special "vinagrette" at a four star restaurant could be half snot.

The last time I ate at a fast food restauraunt, I had a chicken sandwich. When I took a bite, a really long hair got stuck between my teeth from the middle of it. Now I tend to eat what I cook, at least my own hair I can deal with.

All the better to fling bodily fluids into your chalupa. :( The rare occasions I eat there I try to completely block out what foreign substances might be in my food.

First of all it wasn't one sentence.
Second all I wanted to put into perspective that 99,9 % of the commercial and private cooking is done with bare hands. So where's the big deal. As long as the hands that prepare your foog are clean, no problem.

Correction noted! Nothing personal intended, I just couldn't resist the comparison!

I agree with you nick, and it doesn't stop me from eating there. Like others have said I just try to eat it and not think about it. I guess it is more an issue at Taco Bell because they stand right in front of you and you can SEE them sneeze or use the mop, etc., whereas at other places they hide out in the back and whip up their "secret sauce" and other goodies ;)

There was a story not too long ago about a State Trooper and I *think* it was a taco bell because he got an order of nachos in the drive thru and the serving guy hocked a loogie in it. Well the trooper figured that out pretty quick and I think he sued TB. (my apologies if it was another restaurant).

<<As long as the hands that prepare your foog are clean, no problem>>

Exactly. But there are a lot of dirty hands out there :p
