Why don't other golfers lash out at the media about Tiger nut fondling?

NFS4

No Lifer
Besides, Vijay, all of the other golfers seem to play it cool when the media CONSTANTLY brings up Tiger over and over even when the interview is just about them. Or interviewers will ask them how they feel about Tiger or about how he's doing. I know that if I were them, I'd have to pop a cap after a while.

I heard Vijay bring a few of the reporters down to size a few days ago when they asked him about Tiger. He basically said, why are you singling out me vs Tiger? I don't go out to dinner with Tiger. I don't "pal" around with Tiger. I'm not an ememy of his, nor am I a close friend. In fact, I don't think that I would call 95% of the players on tour people that I hang out with or go out to have a beer with. So don't single out Tiger.

why r u jealous?? hehehe j/k 🙂

cause he's Tiger Woods and without him we wouldnt be talkin about golf

Nah, I'm not jealous. I actually like the guy. I just don't see how the other golfers can hold it in though when the media is constantly asking them about "Tiger this" or "Tiger that"

i think most golfers know its Tiger that is making them all richer so they just go along with it

EDIT: and i think Vijay is an a$$hole!!

I liked Phil's comment after someone asked him about Tiger's poor round on Friday. It was something to the effect of "Look, if you're expecting me to shed a tear about it, it's not going to happen."

I think most golfers just take it in stride. Tiger gives them respect back when he gets interviewed.

Please finish the quote...

?If you?re looking for me to shed a tear it?s not going to happen.

?But I think we all know that come Sunday his name will find its way up on top there. It?ll be tough for us to keep him back.?

Mickelson was right on too since Tiger finished tied for 4th.

Well probably because many golfers have been publically flogged for saying something unpopular.

That and vijay's an ass.

But I know what you're talking about...its like "jeez, enough already...show me the leaders"

Seriously, has anyone looked into how much money Tiger has brought to the other top notch but less popular golfers. I bet having Tiger around has brought significantly more interest to the game of golf as well as having likely also padded the yearly incomes of other pro golfers.

I kinda liked Vijay's comment there. I'd be pretty ticked if someone singled Tiger out like that to me, but I think he handled it well.

"...in golfing news Tiger Woods finished at a disappointing 2 over today. He was quoted as saying, "This just wasn't my day. Sometimes you're on and sometimes you're not. That's how the game works." Tiger's drive was impressive as ever, but his short game seemed to suffer from the Florida heat. He shot for par, par, and a bogey on the last three holes. This may have something to do with his changing his club sponsorships. It is estimated that Tiger has earned eleventy billion extra dollars from sponsorships and promotions alone. Tiger was quoted as saying, "I think that what I am doing is good for golf. I bring it into the spotlight and I'm exposing a younger generation to the game."

Tiger should perform better in his next tournament. He has recorded two first place and a second place finish in the last four years. Analysts agree that part of Woods' problem today was that he did not eat enough fiber for breakfast. Dr. Gene Skallow, a noted intuitionalist/physiologist, analyzed Tiger's feces this afternoon to determine what he was eating. Dr. Skallow reports that "On days where Tiger eats at least 4 grams of fiber for breakfast, he has never finished below 4th place and he has won 48.3% of the tournaments he has played in." Tiger could not be reached for comments about his stool sample.

Oh yeah, Mickelson won the tournament....or something.

Tiger is by far the best golfer in the world...

"Why don't other basketball players lash out at the media about MJ nut fondling?"

Hmmmm....I dunno, maybe because he's won 6 championships and has lead the league in scoring FOREVER and is better than anyone else who is on the court with him?

"Why don't other golfers lash out at the media about Tiger nut fondling?"
Hmmmm....I dunno, maybe because he's won more majors than the rest of the top 10 combined and is consistently the player to beat in every major?

edit: I am NOT a Tiger fanboy, Goosen is my favorite player. So save the flaming.

I like Vijay. Got to follow him around at a publicity round for this year's Canadian Open (I work at the course where it's being held in a few weeks). He's got a very dry sense of humour, and is pretty down to earth and straight. He's the same on camera as he is off camera.

tiger brings in tv ratings, so of course the tv programs will give what the viewers want: more tiger

especially after he won two majors this year, and near misses in the other 2

Golfers were rich long before tiger came along. Golf is a great game and it doesn't need Tiger which is what your implying. You don't know what you are talking about.

Your nuts, I've been watching golf since the 60s and it has always been popular because it is a fun game to play especially if you play well. Golf doesn't need Tiger or anyone else to continue to be a fun and popular sport both on and off of TV.

"You're"...and there's no denying what he's done for the game, good or bad. Other PGA pros have said similar comments, why can't you. Golf hasn't changed as a game, but in terms of market penetration and marketability, Tiger has single-handedly brought the game into the spotlight.
