I use NS 6.23, NS 4.79 and IE 5.50 SR2 when I absolutely have to. Of all all of them, NS 4.79 still looks the best to me on sites where it works, but of course, not all sites work correctly with it. Also, you don't get anywhere near as many pop-ups with it. I also like the mail prog in NS 4.7x better than the newer one in NS 6.23.

NS 6.23 is at least as fast as IE 5.5 and again, like NS 4.79, gets fewer pop-ups. NS 4.7x does not support all of the features on this forum, but 6.23 seems to do quite well. IMHO, on sites that display all three correctly, IE is butt ugly compared to either NS version.

I won't even consider going IE 6. It's spyware like the rest of XP. :disgust:

I guess that means I'm totally current on two NS versions, but I won't go to the newer version of IE. Now, what were you saying about upgrading?

they paid a lot for their browsers back in the day. They're just trying to get their money's worth.

The way I see it is this: Netscape 4.x is old & outdated... it doesn't support some of the newer things the web can do. And by always having to support Netscape 4 as some development firms do, we're limiting the things we can do on the web. So essentially, Netscape 4 users are holding everybody else back. What the web development firms should do is, NOT support Netscape 4 at all... if NOBODY supported it, eventually the NS4 users would get frustrated and either stop using the web altogether, or upgrade to at LEAST a newer version of Netscape... or switch to IE (even better).

I'm guessing that the majority of IE users who have "upgraded" did so by buying a computer within the past two years.

I changed to IE from nutscrape a few years back because nutscrape just started sucking badly.

their PC came with nutscrape X.X and they never upgrade ANY software on their PC because they don't know how, they barely know how to turn on the PC (only because it is labeled ON/OFF and they had tech support walk them through the procedure a couple times and then they got smart and decided to just leave it in the ON position so they wouldn't have to wait 15 minutes on hold with support to go through it all again) ;)
