Why don't I see boot sequence on LCD... sometimes!

Running Windows 2000 SP4, machine is Beauty in my sig:

BFG geforce 6600 GT OC AGP (two DVI outputs)
MSI KT3 Ultra2 Mainboard

Sometimes I see the bootup sequence, sometimes I don't. Why?

Also, this last week I had to go into BIOS several times - press Delete key at beginning of boot sequence. Several times it didn't work! IOW, it booted straight to Windows 2000. I had turned off the machine and waited a few seconds. Waiting a minute or so alleviated that problem. What's up with all this? Thanks for any information.

Most lcd's have a signal detection circuit that shuts the display off when there's no signal. Most lcds take a few seconds to turn on and display a picture too. During the boot sequence, the video card is intermittantly outputing a signal and sometimes the turn-on delay of the lcd will basically cover up the whole boot sequence. What you want to do to get in the bios when this happens is just reset the comp and as soon as the display goes black, hold down delete.
