They should make a silent push version of SMS. That way if you want to message someone but you don't want to distrub them with a ring/beep/alert you can.

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this'll be useful.

No, you're sending an SMS to another person and you don't want their phone to beep/alert/vibrate/jingle/blow up.

That's just stupid.

You have no right on choosing whether the person's phone you send a SMS to beeps/vibrates or not. If he is in a meeting or anywhere else where it would be rude, it's their responsibility to make sure its on silent, not yours.

I understand what you mean. I rarely use SMS though, so I don't really care. :)

If it's not important, then why don't you just wait to tell him in person, or call him?

Because there's SMS spam. You wouldn't want SMS spam to be able to always beep/vibrate your cell now would you?

Late at night when I go to get munchies the microwave always beeps and wakes my mom up. We almost got caught one time.

Telling them in person or calling them would defeat the purpose of SMS! SMS is like IMing someone on their cell phone.

I'm not talking about MAKING the other phone beep/vibrate, I'm talking about making the other phone NOT beep/vibrate.

I admit that last sentence in the OP was poorly constructed.

This isn't what I was was referring to, but oh well. I really don't care that much.

Iono, because how they want to receive their text messages is their own damn business?

In a less mean answer, I wouldn't mind if someone sends me a silent SMS. Of course, this means I would never check the phone number I either get a call or a non-silent SMS.

For some examples lets say:

-Your sports teams wins and you just want to send a taunt to your buddy.
-Just say hello/what's up to a friend
-send your SO a msg saying hi

Those aren't important so why bother the individual? You just want them to get the message and you don't care if it's now or 6 hours from now. (Assuming most people glance at their phone at least twice a day).
