The same reason virtually no small kitchen utility appliance (sandwich maker, waffle iron) has no on/off switch. Because it's retarded.

Between my family, we have 3, and none have on/off switches. Why??

AFAIK, its cause apparently, leaving a kitchen appliance that heats up plugged in all the time is a fire hazard. If the switch fails = big fire.

Plug it in = On
Unplug it = Off
There's your on/off switch right there

My sandwich maker has an on/off switch.(Actually the only thing that runs on electricity in my kitchen that doesn't have an on/off switch is my ice box.)
edit: note I don't have, nor want a george foreman grill, I prefer actual fire to cook with.
