why don't car stereos come with input/output jacks?

life would be so much simpler with these two simple things... if not everybody wanted to listen to music, one of the passengers could just plug headphones in! if you wanted to use your ipod, you wouldn't have to get some cassette adapter, you could just run a cord between the headphone jack of your player and the stereo....

i don't get it... surely i'm not the only one who thinks life would be so much better if this was done.... :confused:

cause there ain't a whole lot of room to deal with on a car stereo faceplate or in the guts of the unit to facilitate the jacks, I might guess

Some receivers do have auxiliary imputs, but I agree every receiver should. About every receiver has preamp outs, but no headphone jack hmmm......

I can understand input (which there's some out there that do have this feature), but why would you want an output jack? Are you going to hook up your computer speakers? Heh

Besides, it'd encourage people to use headphones, which is a no-no behind the wheel.
