How about a few facts?
United Way of America: 91% of all funds spent on programs.
Salvation Army, 76% of all funds spent on programs, only 1% spent on fundraising.
American Heart Association, 70% of all funds spent on programs, 18% on fundraising.
Christian Applachian Project, 84% of all funds spent on projects, 13% on fundraising.

Do you mind telling us where you found that info?

I'd like to check on a couple of charities that I donate to.

Ditto.
I gave 15k to the Chruch last year which probably breaks down to 20% spent on progams and 80% on lawyers!

$15,000? That's more than I make in a year.

Ever heard of words like honour, justice, CHARITY, devotion?

So by your logic we should cast our parents out once they get old if they have no money to leave us? It's called being human instead of an animal.

so they fight because they are compelled by these feelings.

no, not at all. that's not what i'm saying. i am simply saying that there is no such thing as true altruism. people are nice to one another, and do the "right" thing, because they *want* to do it. this guy is complaining that people are giving because they get something from it. my point is that if nobody got anything out of it, nobody would give. even if you do not want your name on some brick, and you're just doing it to help others, you are still doing it to fulfill that desire in you, the desire to help others.

It's called being human instead of an animal.

humans ARE animals, by definition.

Not much for rhetorics, eh?

When I donate, I don't expect anything in return. That's partly because I'm such a swell guy, and also because no one's going to name a library after me for $20. Come on man, surely you would not seriously talk smack to people who give away free money(in millions). Don't look the gift horse in the mouth or something similar...

Preface, Introduction, and Listing of Nation/International Agencies - word or zip file.

A 4 digit code precedes each charity, the charity name, description and the % listed at the end is the administrative cost.

IMO, most charities are in general a waste of money that would be better spent elsewhere, or in a different manner. Instead of spending millions feeding hungry children who are unlikely to ever repay the contribution society has made to them, efforts should be focused on more worthwhile projects to society as a whole.

Yes, I know this sounds cruel, eliteist, choose your description. I hold unpopular views on welfare, crime and punishment, and foreign policy as well. Despite that, I'm a good-natured person ;). I simply think logic should be given a higher priority than emotion.
