Why doesn't the Netgear EVA8000 support DVD .img files

Well the EVA8000 COULD HAVE replaced all my XBMCs in my house, but lack of .img support (DVD files) kills it. Why wouldn't they include this? I won't take the "legal ramification" argument as I have tons of retail DVDs that I have purchased and ripped to HDD for streaming. Nobody touches actual, physical media in my house unless its to insert it into the PC to rip to the file server so it can be shared to all the TVs/stereos.

This device is clearly aimed at early adapters and tech-savvy people, who would be doing the exact same with their DVD collection

Man... I just can't believe they dropped the call on image support. So disappointed.

The legal issue is exactly it. Considering its illegal to rip your DVDs (you're breaking the copyright protection by doing so), whether you own them or not, their support of ISOs or IMGs would get them in trouble.

I'm not saying its wrong to do what you're doing, as I agree its really nice having a movie collection readily available, I'm just saying you're answering your own question there.

d-oh! You know I do it so frequently and so readily that I simply don't even consider ripping my retail DVDs (or home-made DVDs) to HDD "illegal". Man if the RIAA/MPAA knew what I did with all those VHS tapes and vinyl records when back when...

So sad. So I guess I still with my XBMC's and still cant do HD content. Pathetic.
