I am wondering if anyone can figure this one out.
I installed and patched Quake 4 on one of my computers. When I try to start a game, it takes extremely long to load(longer than it took to load on computers years ago that were far less powerful than this one). It gets about 85% through the loading screen and then it crashes and I am presented with this error message:
Error
Specs of the machine in question:
Celeron E1200 1.6Ghz
2GB DDR 667
Radeon HD 4670 256MB
Windows Vista Home Premium x86 SP2
ECS 945GCT-M3 Mainboard
All drivers are up to date, there are no viruses or malware, all windows updates are installed, machine passes every stability test, runs every game except Quake 4 perfectly fine. This problem is 100% repeatable. Happens every single time in exactly the same way.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before? Quite frankly, this is the first time I've ever had a PC game fail to work on a completely flawless computer before and it is troubling.
