Why doesn't my MSI K7T Pro2-A work anymore?

My computer has worked fine for a year, but I tried to run an old NES emulator I had and a long BEEP started coming out of the speakers and the screen went black. I had to unplug it to get it to power off and when I turned it back on the D-LEDs said it stalled on "Initalizing Video Interface". I tried restarting a few times with the same result. After I reset the CMOS the light came up all red. The hard drive spun around which I wouldn't think it would do if it really stalled at "Power ON". I tried an old PCI video card and still all red lights, except now half the time the lights stall on "Initializing Keyboard Controller". I've been trying to think of what to do, but I'm out of ideas and really need your help.

Dude -- I had the similar problem. See my "sudden death" post. Essentially a CMOS clear "seems" to have fixed the problem -- for now. If it happens again, it's getting RMA-ed. :frown:

I'm not surprised in the least. A large (VERY large) number of K7T series boards bought a year ago have died for no reason at all. Mine only lasted 6 months. You seem to be in the minority (having it last so long). You will probably need to RMA it. I was able to get mine to come back to life but the problem started happening more and more. To bring mine back to life I would remove the CPU and turn the system on for 2 minutes (not too much less or it wouldn't work). Then turn it off and replace the CPU+HSF and it would come back to life.
