why doesn't my hsf get hot?

i just got a 2500+ and have been running prime95.. aida reads the temps as 38/47C while running.. which seems fine, but at the same time when i touch the hsf, it isn't even barely warm.. i'm kind of worried that maybe i didn't seat the hsf correctly. so i re-seated it again, looked good.. but still the same results. am i just being paranoid? it seems like my chip should be dead by now if i messed up, at the same time i would think the hsf should get at least warmish right?

if you went from some POS HSF to say... a zalman cnps7000, then yeah everything is proper.
my zalman is barely warm.

hm ok.. so i should be good to go in terms of starting to increase cpu voltage and fsb without having to worry about my my hsf being seated incorrectly? (i just have the stock hsf right now, so i know it'll get hotter anyways.. i hope, so i know it's working )

the thing that will make you run hot is upping vcore voltage.
if you can leave that at the stock 1.65, then there's nothing to worry about.

try this first:

go into bios, and change FSB from 166 to 200.
save and exit, reboot.
if windows comes up, great.
then run prime 95, heavy cpu stress test.

if there are no errors, then you're good to go.

if you get errors, then go back into bios.
up the vcore voltage to 1.675.
repeat prime 95 test.

if that doesn't work, up voltage to 1.70
repeat prime 95.

on your stock HSF, don't go higher than 1.70
hopefully you won't have to.
