Why does Windows XP support a 7.1 speaker setup? Is there such a thing for PCs?

I believe 7.1 is the DD EX standard, and IIRC, the new Hercules GTXP with the newer drivers supports a full eight speakers...

It depends on what your specific needs are. Both cards are top level consumer soundcards, but they offer different options. The sound quality of the Audigy and the GTXP are both top notch. 🙂

Actually the new drivers support 6.1 sound.
