You are posting in a Windows fanboy forum. Try a similar question about the other 2 major OS's where Linux or Mac geeks congregate and you get the same "it's your own damn fault".

Here is what you do, go post this rant in the Linux forums and everyone will know and understand exactly what you mean and even further your rant with many, many more rants and agreements with your distastes.

Personally I would rant about Windows stupid registry, obtuse UI or how MS loves to introduce something, then improperly support it, then later drop support completely...silverlight, dreamscene, Games for Windows and literally dozens upon dozens of other things.
Yes I agree Windows has always sucked at certain things in comparison, however all the other OS's in history have also had their fair share of things that suck. I have quite a rant about Linux which imo tends to be worst experience if your trying to learn it's seemingly infinite hurdles.

Add Windows Media Center to that list :(

If you think Windows is bad, you should see the other options. *shudders*

It's even worse in Linux... Well, package managers take care of it mostly... except when they don't.

The issue is the whole shared library model that everyone seems to praise. It only makes things worse from a deployment and reliability point of view. Some apps require very specific versions of a library, and in some cases even require them to be at a specific location. If the app was written in such a way that the library code was built into the app then it would install and run no matter what without having to depend on it being on the system. Dependency hell is not a fun thing to go through.

It isn't my job to make sure Windows doesn't suck.

Who gives a shit whether it's your job or not? It's your life. Finding easier ways to do the things you need to do is in your own interest. Don't do it for microsoft man. Do it for you.

Odd, every Windows game I've installed in the last eleventy years has had a decent setup program that either includes the needed .Net installer as a sub-setup or automatically fetches and installs it.

Maybe that's because I get my games through Steam. Is this from some Yarr Matey site or Pytor's Russian Discount Software Hut?

No, if he posted this rant in a Linux forum the tech savvy would identify the problem as being his own ineptitude and they would slap him around for failing to understand the difference between the limitations of the O/S and one badly packaged app. And they'd laugh at him for being unable to use Windows when even people who buy computers in Wal-Mart can handle it. Just like what's happening here.

However if he brought out the wambulance on a Mac forum they at least would be able to commiserate with his "Windows is too hard for me..." butthurt rant.

This forum needs to recruit/retain more women so they can point at the OP and giggle.

A lot of butthurt nerds missing the point on purpose. Did Bill Gates give you a handy when you were feeling down?

8,000 posts in 2 years.

Starts threads about all the things he "doesn't like", doesn't understand, and can't figure out.

The "butthurt nerd" would be in Post 1, chief.:whiste:

You install a new program and you can't run it because of a cryptic error message. Turns out you need Visual C++ runtime libraries. Isn't that made by Microsoft? Why wouldn't they just include it with the OS?

They don't include it in the OS because stupid people decided it was "anticompetitive." So, Microsoft doesn't include addons like that anymore.

If I had a $ for every "program needed msvcr#.dll so I downloaded it off a random website and now I get another error message because its a 32bit dll and I'm trying to run a 64bit program" thread. MS is bringing back dll hell one runtime to rule them all so hopefully there will be less headaches going forward.

There's no way to simplify the process. It's a guessing game.

I hate Steam. And I'd say it's Microsoft's job to distribute products made by Microsoft.
