Why does the printer print blank pages?

So I am able to add the printers on my network using this Vista notebook now. When I try to print something, the paper comes out blank with like two characters at the top "@G". What is the reason for this?

I am using a Brother MFC 8500 and HP OfficeJet 6210 All In One.

That is usually a symptom of the wrong printer drivers installed. Remove the printer and the drivers and reinstall.

I deleted the printer and tried re-adding it with the same problems. How do I make sure I deleted those drivers?

Does the same problem occur with both the Brother and the HP?

Are you using the Vista PnP drivers or those that come with the printers?

Well, I went through the wizard and then it added the drivers itself. I tried connecting it locally and then printing- no luck. I tried connecting locally then changing the port- no luck. I am guessing it's the drivers.

For the brother, do the driver properties have options like HP PCL vs PostScript vs bitmap? You might have it set wrong.

Also check that the properties show the right model number.

Also try running the self-test on the Brother.
