Why does the military keep calling me?

Almost a year ago I went to the local recruiter in an attempt to join the Navy (wanted to be a coprsman). I'm asthmatic and I failed their physical. But about every two months they call me and talk, and I mention that I am asthmatic and we end the conversation. Don't they have records or something?

Nah, all of their records were sucked into a blackhole at homeland security. ;)

They should have a log book. But theres nothing stopping you from joining the military. You are not physically disabled. I know plenty of people with asthma that got in. You just have to hide it and truly want to get in.

The recruiter said I had no chance. I know that if I were to get into better shape my asthma would improve 10 fold. But at this point in my life I don't really want to join anymore.

They have to make a certain number of calls to show they're actually doing something, I reckon.

That might be the case if he had been looking at the army or marine corps, where recruiting numbers are way down. But the navy & air force numbers have been fairly steady throughout the war on terrorism, thanks mostly from the fact that unless you're in a field that could end up on convoy duty, you're pretty much not having to worry about seeing any action (i.e.--someone pointing the business end of an ak47 at you).

Unless you were being facetious, of course!! ;)

You'd think the U.S. military would take anyone they could right now considering the current situation.

Not a flame about the U.S. or their military, stating a valid opinion.

They dont have to make a certain number of calls, but they do have to spend a certain amount of time on the phone.
